Chuncheon National Museum is hosting the Seollal Traditional & Cultural Event to celebrate Seollal (Lunar New Year’s Day) in Korea. The museum offers traditional cultural activities that can help visitors remember the meaning of these Korean holidays.
The event will be held in the front plaza, central hall, and at the auditorium with various programs including movie screening for family, play for children, etc.
The Muchangpo Mystic Sea Road Jjukkumi and Dodari Festival is held from mid-March to early April at the Mucheonpo Port area. During the festival season, there will also be an abundance of freshly caught seasonal seafood such as jjukkumi (baby octopus), gaebul (fat innkeeper worm), and shellfish.
Imsil N Cheese Festival first started to promote the most famous cheese industry in Korea with more than 50 years of history. The festival grew and offers visitors a chance to become a character from a fairy-tale by entering a European-style cheese castle and to Imsil Cheese Theme Park and Imsil Cheese Village. When the festival starts in October, more than 10 million chrysanthemums fill the festival areas. Visitors will be able to taste and purchase goods made from Imsil at a discounted price.
Daegaya (42-562) was a nation that inhabited the Gyeongsangnam-do province of Korea around the 4th Century. The festival is a great opportunity for children to learn about nature in a fun, interactive environment.
Odaesan Mountain Culture Festival is an annual celebration held around October to provide visitors a chance to experience Korean Buddhist culture. The festival takes place at the foot of Pyeongchang’s Odaesan Mountain, which is famous for its magnificent scenery. In addition to enjoying the festivities, visitors will have the opportunity to cultivate their body and mind through the festival’s wide range of programs encompassing the unique characteristics of Buddhist culture.
This New Year from December 31 to January 1, Gangneung City will hold its annual ‘Sunrise Event’. As well as visiting the area’s attractions such as Gyeongpodae town, visitors will be able to welcome in the New Year by watching a beautiful sunrise. Starting with a prayer ritual, the festival will feature an oyster food-tasting event, an oyster-shucking contest and more events. Visitors can take part in some of oyster-themed hands-on activities such as making a pizza with oysters and making oyster candles.
