Gyeongsangbuk-do(Uiseong-gun)

In Geumbong Recreational Forest (금봉자연휴양림) in Uiseong, Gyeongsangbuk-do, you can see the apple blossoms in spring; enjoy cool stream waters and the serenade of crickets in summer, the gorgeous foliage in autumn, and splendid snowscapes in winter. The hiking trails that surround Geumbong Recreational Forest, and promenades in Cheongseokgol Valley, will give you a chance to experience the rejuvenating calm of the forest. Also, the log cabins made of various woods such as oak, pine, white birch, and Korean spruce make you feel truly at home amidst the boundless nature.


Gyeongsangbuk-do(Bonghwa-gun)

Waters from the Taebaek Mountains forged Seokcheon Valley (석천계곡), located in Bonghwa-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do. The valley is wide, shallow, and surrounded by thick pine forests. Broad, flat rocks are scattered throughout, and the valley is a great place for children to play. Next to the valley, you will also find Seokcheonjeong Pavilion, which was built in 1535 (Joseon period). This pavilion, made of Bonghwa red pine trees called Chunyangmok, and mounted on stone, offers a great view of the nearby scenic mountain.


Gangwon-do(Jeongseon-gun)

At Hwaam Mineral Spring (화암약수), water rises up through a rock crater located in Dong-myeon, Jeongseon. The water is said to be good for stomachaches, eye infections, and skin diseases; and, as it contains nine essential elements such as calcium and fluorine, it tastes crisp and clean. Also, thick trees and interesting rock formations surround the sides of a path connecting the spring to Hwaam Cave. * The mineral spring contains 854.3mg of carbonic acid ions, 26.9mg of iron, 82.9mg of calcium, 0.6mg of fluorine and nine other healthy substances.


Gyeongsangbuk-do(Mungyeong-si)

Near the recreation forest are historically-famous sites such as Bongamsa Temple, the relics of Gyeon Hwon, the birthplace of Ungang Lee Kang-nyeon, and Mungyeong Saejae Mountain Pass. Allowing visitors to enjoy sightseeing and leisure sports at the same time, the recreation forest offers various hands-on experience at the ceramics exhibition hall, ecological park, clay shooting range, rafting site, and the drama open set. Located right next to Yongchu Valley, the recreation forest’s facilities include the Forest Culture Recreation Center, Forest Cabin, Woodcraft Experience Center, and forest experience trails along Seonyudong Nadeul-gil.


Chungcheongbuk-do(Chungju-si)

The site stretches from North to South on a basin in the Haneuljae mountain pass, which connects Chungcheongbuk-do and Gyeongsangbuk-do provinces. It is said that Mauitaeja, the last prince of the Silla Kingdom, had dream one night as he was traveling to Geumgangsan Mountain where the Goddess Gwanseeumbosal instructed him to erect a statue Buddha. As a result, he built a temple to honor the goddess’ wishes at the current site of Mireuk-ri. Though the temple site has been invaded multiple times, the statue of Buddha has remained intact for over 1,000 years.


Jeollabuk-do(Namwon-si)

Namwon Recreational Forest (남원자연휴양림) is located at the base of Chonbuk Namwon <Cheonhwangsan Mountain>. Since there are over 3558300ft²of Korean pine trees that are about twenty to thirty years old, one will breathe the pure, fresh air while following the 4km mountain path. Within this recreation forest there are promenades, a swimming pool, ancient traditional sweating rooms, sport massage rooms, a golf range, restaurants, traditional teahouses, and other subsidiary facilities such as lodging condos. Gyeongsangbuk-do(Yeongyang-gun)

Situated in Subi-myeon in Yeongyang County, Geommasan Natural Recreation Forest abounds with phytoncide given off by the trees. This is a place where visitors can engage themselves in programs to discipline the mind and body. The forest offers accommodation facilities, a place for observing indigenous plants, tent sites, outdoor decks, hiking trails, and various other convenience facilities.


Ulsan(Buk-gu)

Jusangjeolli are columnar rock formations with cross sections in hexagonal or triangular shapes. The jusangjeolli at the shore of Hwaam Maeul Village were created by basalt lava that erupted in the Tertiary period of the Cenozoic Era about 20 million years ago. The columnar basalt formations were created as the lava cooled and shrank into cracks. The rocks look like wood stacked horizontally or vertically en masse. The length of the columns average around 20 meters and diagonally are about 50 centimeters at the longest cross-section. Of the columnar lava formations on the East Coast, the Jusangjeolli in Hwaam are the oldest, so it is academically invaluable. Shaped in various angles, the rocks also offer a great landscape for sightseeing.


Jeollanam-do(Gokseong-gun)

Seomjingang River, one of the four major rivers in Korea, starts from Imsil and Sunchang. It merges with several bodies of water in Gokseong-gun, Gurye and Hadong before flowing into the South Sea.In Gokseong-gun, Seomjingang River is also known as Sunjagang River. It flows about 36km through the region, and is abundant in different types of fish. A number of big and small valleys throughout the length of the river provide fantastic views and relaxation spots all year round. Also, Riverside Festival and Seomjingang Literature Forum are held every summer to offer fun summer activities along the river.


Jeollabuk-do(Jinan-gun)

Jeonbuk Jinan’s Unjangsan Recreational Forest (운장산자연휴양림) is located east of Unjangsan Mountain (1,126m), the highest mountain in Jinan district. Within the recreation forest there is the beautiful “Galgeo Valley”. In addition, there are various sites such as “Rock Yard” and “Haguiso” nearby.
