Go to the top of the observatory for a dramatic bird’s-eye-view of the crystal clear Muju area.

Gimje Station

As King Gyeong-deok in 757 (16 years after ruling at the age of unified Silla) altered the administrative division system into Chinese style so as to strengthen the local power 'Ju', 'Gun', and 'Hyeon', which are hanja (Chinese characters). Since then, 'Byeokgol' was renamed as 'Gimje', which refers to golden field and thus the station name 'Gimje Station'.

World Taekwondo Culture Expo

Moaksan Provincial Park

Located in Wanju, Jeollabuk-do, Moaksan Provincial Park (모악산도립공원) lies south of Jeonju, an ancient city with thousands of years of history. With an elevation of 793.5 meters, Moaksan, or Mt. Moak, towers over the east of Geumman Pyeongya (delta) extending between the Mangyeonggang and Dongjingang rivers. It is situated in the central part of the Noryeong Mountains. Designated as a provincial park in 1972, the park is home to Geumsansa, a temple that has within its walls national treasures and many regional cultural properties. Its scenic views transform with the turn of the seasons. Because of the mountain’s proximity and easy-access, many climbers and hikers visit all the year round.

Sunchang Traditional Paste Museum

Sunchang Traditional Paste Museum is located across from the Sunchang Gochujang Village. The 2-story building (1,513㎡ in size) consists of a permanent exhibition hall exhibiting Jangnyu (Fermented Sauces) such as red pepper pastes and soybean pastes, a planned exhibition hall displaying cultural treasures of Sunchang, and an outdoor square.At the permanent exhibition hall, recipes for fermented sauces and their histories are introduced, and containers for fermented sauces are displayed. An observation room for the fermentation process and spaces for hands-on experience activities are at the corners. The outdoor square attracts people with a terrace displaying earthen wares that are used to contain the fermented sauces, as well as a millstone worked by horse or ox, and an old tomb from the Baekje dynasty.

Geumsansa Temple Stay

Geumsansa, located in Geumsan-ri, Geumsan-myeon, Gimje-si, Jeollabuk-do, is home to a number of cultural assets. The temple offers a temple stay program where you can learn the traditional culture of Korean Buddhism and the way of a Buddhist practitioner while experiencing day-to-day life in the temple. Basic programs include Yebul (Buddhist service), Chamseon (Zen meditation), Barugongyang (formal monastic meal), 108 prostrations, walking in the woods and talking with a monk. On top of these basic programs, special seasonal programs are also provided.

Iksan Ten Million Chrysanthemum Festival
Jeollabuk-do(Iksan-si)

The annual Iksan Ten Million Chrysanthemum Festival is held every year from late October to early November at Iksan Jungang Sports Complex. The festival features an outdoor chrysanthemum exhibit, a national chrysanthemum artwork contest, cultural performances and many more. Citizens, business, and organizations also put their own chrysanthemum flowers outside to support the festival and to promote Iksan's image.
