Ganghwa GGAGGA(강화까까)

It all began with a single, simple question: "Why doesn't Ganghwado Island have a signature souvenir treat like Japan's 'Tokyo Banana'?" A young man, fresh from his military service and rooted in the soil of Ganghwado Island, set out to create a dessert emblematic of his hometown. Surrounded by the bounty of his homeland, boasting high-quality local products such as ginseng, mugwort, rice, and turnips, the young man found his inspiration in Ganghwa ginseng and Ganghwa Artemisia herba.

He embarked on an experimental journey, painstakingly crafting recipes, touring mugwort farms, and amassing knowledge at the Ganghwa Agricultural Technology Service Center. The culmination of his efforts can be found in the Ganghwa Ggagga, a handmade tart shop nestled at the entrance of Soljeong Village in Sinhyeon-ri.

Sporting a vibrant, springtime forsythia yellow exterior, the shop produces an array of exquisite tarts: ginseng, mugwort, and cream cheese. These Western-style tarts are beautifully infused with local ingredients that are synonymous with Ganghwado Island. Notably, the ginseng tarts maintain the delicate aroma of the root without its typical bitterness. The lineup also includes lemon peel-enhanced ginseng tarts that introduce a refreshing zing, aromatic mugwort tarts, and cream cheese tarts, brimming with French cream cheese and gourmet butter. Every bite offers an explosion of diverse and rich flavors.
