“Saturday Traditional Folk Play” is a regular performance of important intangible cultural assets designated by the Korean government and Busan local government. The purpose of the performance is to introduce traditional folk plays designated as Busan’s intangible cultural assets to domestic and foreign tourists and promote the artistic superiority of Korean culture. The audience can understand tradition and culture specific to Busan by experiencing various folk plays handed down from generation to generation. In addition, the performance expands the opportunity for not only Busan citizens but also visitors to enjoy traditional cultures, paving the path for culture education to reduce cultural gap between generations. By integrating performances with tourist attractions, Busan will make a step forward as a famous region loved by domestic and international tourists.

・Programs : 1. Suyeong Yaryu (Korean Intangible Cultural Asset No.43)
- Suyeong Yaryu show, a satire on corrupt aristocrats, takes place in the evening on the day of the first full moon of the lunar year.
2. Kang Taehong’s Gayageum Sanjo(Busan’s Intangible Cultural Asset No.8)
Gayageum solo in the style of the school of Kang Taehong is performed. The musical techniques are various and melodies are attractive.
3. Celebration of Buddha’s Sermon on Vulture Peak Mountain (Busan’s Intangible Cultural Asset No.9) -As part of a Buddhist religious ceremony, it features bara dance and butterfly dance.
4. Song of Fishing with a Net in Dadaepo (Busan’s Intangible Cultural Asset No.7)
-The song composed of 7 parts is sung by fishermen to labor energetically.
5. Nongcheong Nori in Suyeong, Eobang Nori in Jwasuyeong (Korean Intangible Culture Asset No.62 / Busan’s Intangible Cultural Asset No.2)
- Suyeong region’s representative folk play Nongcheong Nori shows a farming process, and Eobang Nori in Jwasuyeong, the traditional fishing performance reinterpreted from a modern viewpoint, takes palce along Gwangalli beach
6. Dongnae Treading the Earth God, Dongnae Crane Dance (Busan’s Intangible Cultural Asset No.4 / Busan’s Intangible Cultural Asset No.3)
- Dongnae Treading the Earth God is a event to pray for good fortune by finding the guardian deity of each household. It takes place with Dongnae Crane Dance with the characteristics of Deotbaegi Dance.
7. Dongnae Yaryu (Korean Intangible Culture Asset No.18)
- This mask playing is of Gunmu (group dance) Gwajang, Mundungi (leper) Gwajang, Yangban (nobleman) Gwajang, Yeongno (imaginary animal) Gwajang, and Halmi and Yeonggam (grandmother and grandfather) Gwajang.
