In each episode of Running Man, the cast members play games and complete missions to win the race. They indeed keep running and hustling around Seoul, making sure that their audience is amused at all times. This course features four restaurants that Lee Kwang-soo, Haha, Kim Jong-kook and Ji Suk-jin visited in the K-TV Show to replenish their used-up energy. This list of restaurants serving up a healthy selection of dishes will come in handy especially for those who are looking to supplement and boost their stamina.

Course 1. Traditional Meat Dish Loved by the Prince of Asia : Woosami

Having garnered much fandom and publicity throughout Asia, Lee Kwang-soo is often referred to in the K-TV Show as the Prince of Asia. The restaurant that he recommended in Running Man is Woosami located in Samseong-dong. The main menu of the restaurant is bulgogi (grilled marinated beef) which is cooked on a stovetop grill.

Made with thin slices of beef sirloin, it is extremely tender and juicy. Using soy sauce and chopped onion, guests at the restaurant are allowed to create their own dipping sauce. Korean-style radish salad is offered to each guest for free. Another popular dish offered at Woosami is the beef stew. It is made with lots of healthy ingredients including perilla leaves, garlic, sesame oil, chives and scallion. The nutrient-dense broth is rich and savory with a touch of spice.

Course 2. Haha’s Natural Stamina Booster, Stir-Fried Octopus : Baetgodong

The “class clown” of Running Man, Haha is goofy, animated and full of energy. Over the course of the K-TV Show, he even won the missions twice. Where does Haha get his stamina refill? The answer is Baetgodong located in Apgujeong-dong. Its signature dish is the stir-fried octopus marinated in a sweet and spicy sauce. Cooked right at each table with fresh and seasonal ingredients, the octopus is extremely tender and scrumptious. Rice can be added to the dish with baked seaweed crumbs and sesame oil. The ingredients marry beautifully with one another, making for a wonderful bite full of sweet and savory flavors.

Course 3. Kim Jong-guk’s Traditional Protein Source : Jangeo Saenggak

Known for the physical strength that he has demonstrated during the missions, Kim Jong-guk has been given several intimidating nicknames including Commander, Tiger and Mr. Capable. His favorite source of nutrition is eel, which is rich in protein, calcium, vitamins and omega-3 fatty acids. While they may not be visually appealing to some, eel dishes are highly nutritious and flavorful. Right across Yeongdeungpo Market is Kim’s go-to eatery Jaengeo Saenggak.

At the restaurant, grilled saltwater eels are offered on an unlimited basis. Also on the menu are eel stews, tteok-galbi (grilled beef patties), smoked duck, grilled beef sirloin and Korean traditional noodle soups. Until the end of September, 2017, Jaengeo Saenggak is offering unlimited beer and soju (distilled rice liquor) for free for all visitors.

Shown to be rather naïve and gullible during the missions, Ji Suk-jin is not exactly a reliable cast member of Running Man. However, he seems to be spot on when it comes to choosing a restaurant to enjoy a healthy meal out. Ji’s recommendation Yurim is specialized in dakbokkeumtang (spicy braised chicken).

It is quite remotely located on a steep hill of Yeomchang-dong, Gangseo-gu, but is always filled with a constant stream of visitors. There is usually a wait at this busy restaurant, but food is served promptly as the wait-staff takes orders in advance at the entrance. Surrounded by a stunning view of Han River, guests can enjoy the silky texture of the braised chicken and the dense flavors of the broth.
