Located 17㎞ south of Jindo Island in the southwestern tip of the Korean peninsula, Gwanmaedo Island is part of the Dadohae National Park. With excellent beaches, rocky cliffs and boulders, mountains, pine forests, hiking trails, delicious sea foods, traditional villages, and friendly locals, the island is recognized as one of the most scenic islands in the region. Moreover, its location serves as a gateway to many other smaller, remote islands.

Island History
Gwanmaedo Island had been called Bolmae Island until 1914.

Hiking Course

Hiking Trails
1) Gwanmaedo Island arrival port → Hike 1㎞ up the ridge → Turn left, hike 500m to Dondaesan Mountain → Hike 1.5㎞ down to Saetbae Shelter in Gwanmae-ri Village.
2) Gwanmaedo Island arrival port → Hike 2㎞ southwest along the rocky coast
3) Gwanho-ri Village circuit (4㎞)
4) Gwanmae-ri Village → Hike 1.5㎞ north → Hike 1㎞ east along the rocky coast to Bangasum.

Walking Trails
1) Masil-gil trail in Gwanmae-ri Village
2) Doldam-gil trail in Gwanho-ri Village

Take a passenger ferry from Panmokhang Port** to Gwanmaedo Island.
