The Gyeongsangbuk-do Arboretum was founded in September 17, 2001. The arboretum exhibits local plants from Ulleungdo, an island off Korea’s eastern coast that is home to a special ecosystem that includes rare trees and wildflowers. The arboretum has a total of 24 gardens, including the Alpine Botanical Garden, Ulleungdo Native Plant Garden and Needle-leaf Tree Garden.

Tour Course Information
1) Alpine Botanical Garden
Located at the highest elevation of the arboretum, this garden features a variety of alpine plants, along with many rare and endangered plant species.
2) Ulleungdo Native Plant Garden
Many native plants of Ulleungdo (Ulleung Island) are located here.
3) Edible Plant Garden
A variety of edible plants including Pimpinella brachycarpa, sonchifolia, Allium victorialis var. platyphyllum and Platycodon grandiflorum are available.
4) Aquatic Plant Garden
The Aquatic Plant Garden was developed using two ridgelines and the valley that ran between. Most of the plants here are naturally found near humid ponds. The aquatic plants purify the water and are known for their curative properties.
5) Fragrant Plant Garden
This garden for sweet smelling and fragrant plants is located in the west of the arboretum.

1) Theme Garden
Plants are grouped by season.
2) Iris Garden
The Iris Garden is situated in the middle of the arboretum. Various iris plants including Iris ensata var. spontanea, Iris savatieri and Iris pallasii var. chinensis are available.
3) Needle-leaf Tree Garden
A variety of needle-leaf trees including white pine and other pine trees are located here.
4) Broadleaf Tree Garden
Broadleaf trees including shade trees are located here.

From Daegu Dongbu Intercity Bus Terminal, take an intercity bus to Cheongha (청하).
From Cheongha Terminal, take a local bus bound for Sangok/Haok (상옥/하옥).
Get off at Gyeongsangbuk-do Arboretum (경상북도수목원).
