Maengbang Beach is the ideal place for families because of its shallow waters (about 1-1.5m) and various facilities nearby. Visitors can enjoy strolling along the 4-kilometer stretch of beach or in the dense forest nearby. Many events are held during the summer season, including a race along the beach, trout and flounder catching contests, and a clam catching contest. The popular Korean movie, One Fine Spring Day was filmed here.

Access
From Seoul to Samcheok
1. Take a bus bound for Samcheok at Gangnam Express Bus Terminal(Subway Line No.3, Exit 1) / a 4-hour ride, 30-40 minutes intervals, first bus at 6:30, last bus at 20:00 during weekdays and at 21:00 from Friday to Sunday
2. Take a bus bound for Samcheok from Dong Seoul Bus Terminal(Subway Line No. 2, Gangbyeon Station) / 3 hour 40 minute ride, 70 minutes intervals/ first bus at 07:10, last bus at 20:05
From Samcheok to Maengbang Beach
Take a bus at Samcheok Intracity Bus Terminal and get off at Geundeok Nonghyeop Station or Agricultural Technology Center Station (Bus No. 21,22,23,24 -Intracity Bus, 12km/ a 20-minute bus ride)
