Saseondae Tourist Resort was established around Saseondae located on the bank of Owoncheon Stream in the upper region of Seomjingang River. The name Saseondae originates from a legend of four immortals and fairies. The legend has it that two immortals of Maisan Mountain in Jinan and two immortals of Unsusan Mountain in Imsil gathered by Owoncheon Stream to enjoy the beautiful nature. Looking down at the immortals were four fairies, who fascinated by the picturesque scenery of the region, came down from the sky to join the hermits. Since then, the place has been called Saseondae and the stream Owoncheon. Unique rock formations, woods and clear water surrounding Saseondae create a magnificent harmony. The Unseojeong Pavilion (Regional Tangible Cultural Asset No. 135) situated in the dense forest of Saseondae also adds beauty to the scenery. Furthermore, visitors to Saseondae may also enjoy the handcrafted works of noted sculptors from the nearby art village in Ogung on display at Saseondae Sculpture Park.

Oknyeobong Peak is one of the eight scenic views of Nonsan and offers a great overview of the Geumgang River as it flows through the Ganggyeong district. Continuing out into the distance, views of Nonsan and Iksan can be seen, bringing to mind a traditional painting of a mountain and river. The scenery is so beautiful that there is a myth of mountain gods coming down to play and bathe during the full moon. The signal-fire tower at the peak was built to receieve signals from the tower on Gwangduwonsan Mountain in Iksan, and passes the message along to Noseong signal-fire tower. The park is also in the area of the nation's earliest Baptist church, making it famous for people on a pilgrimage to sacred places.

21th DongGang International Photo Festival 2023  The Magical Unknowns We cordially invite you to submit your creative work to the prestigious 21st DongGang International Photo Festival, taking place from July 21st to September 24th, 2023, in the picturesque Yeongwol, Korea. ▲ DongGang International Photo Festival 2022 Curiosity, the desire to explore the unknown, is an inherent human need. The unknown may encompass not only what is completely unfamiliar but also what is presently disregarded or avoided. Often, uncharted territories have had the most profound impact on human history, whether previously unknown, unimagined, or simply neglected. The unknown need not be solely enigmatic or sacred. Whatever it may be, it holds its own irreplaceable magic. Those who are receptive to the unknown have the privilege of unlocking its mysteries and experiencing its wonder. Venturing into the unknown can be an extremely liberating and world-changing experience. What stories and secrets do the countless mysteries of the world hold? How will these magnificent narratives unfold? The sheer thrill of the hidden secrets and magic within the seemingly mundane and trivial can be utterly exhilarating! Individuals and collectives are welcome to apply; individuals should submit between 8 - 12 photographs from a particular series or body of work. Selected 15 - 20 artists including ‘Artist of the year’ (individual artist or 1 team of winner) will benefit from: A-year-long exhibition that exposures at the DIPF Festival - inclusion in art magazine, any related press (long term festival representation and promotion on official website, publications, catalog that being seen by a substantial number of visual arts professionals and the media) where the works viewed by an international panel of influential experts in the field of photography * 'Artist of the year' - solo exhibition at DIPF (production - printing, framing or related presentation material will be provided) and eligible for travel and accommodation to attend the opening.   SUBMISSION GUIDELINES   1. GENERAL Objectives DongGang International Photo Festival aims to feature a quality selection of photography projects from around the world. DIPF’s open call is devoted to offering a platform and supporting photography, showcasing photography and related media from emerging and established artists. Hampyeong’s ‘Haesujjim’ is a medical treatment method that has been widely used ever since the 1800’s. Nutrients are added to seawater, which is then heated for bathing, creating a “Haesujjim (seawater bath)” that combines the benefits of hot springs and bathing.This is especially popular among housewives since it is proven to be an effective treatment for neuralgia, post childbirth discomfort, arthritis, and dermatitis.

The Jeong Jae-su Memorial for Filial Piety was constructed to honor the bravery of Jeong Jae-su who died at the age of 10 trying to rescue his father. It was opened on June 12, 2001 at the former Sasan Elementary School where Jeong was a student. In the Jeong Jae-su Exhibition Room on the first floor, materials relating to Jeong’s filial piety are on display. In the Filial Piety Exhibition Room on the second floor, various materials on general filial piety and works created by students are on display. The theater shows movies on filial piety, including one about Jeong’s virtuous deeds. The theater is also used for seminars and conferences on filial piety. There is also an outdoor performance stage, a facility for traditional folk games, and a rest area.
