Jipangyi Ice Cream

Walking down the streets of Insa-dong in summer, it is fairly common to come across people holding cane-shaped cones nearly the height of a small child, filled with ice cream. Jipangyi, meaning cane in Korean, is a long and thin stick made of puffed rice or corn, and is a favorite traditional snack adored by many Koreans. The nutty flavored corn stick and smooth vanilla ice cream blend perfectly to make a dessert that is popular among tourists. The dessert is so well-liked that it has become wide-spread, making it easy to find Jipangyi ice cream in the most popular tourist sites.

molly’s pops

Molly's Pop is special in that they never sell more than 18 kinds of ice cream at one time. Their most popular ice cream, called ‘19 and over,' blends flavored alcohol beverages such as Baileys, beer, wine and more. As the name suggests, you must be older than 19 to order. However, no age limit applies to their other peculiar ice creams, so go ahead and try wasabi, Injeolmi (rice cake coated with bean flour) or cheese flavored ice cream if you’re feeling daring. Mango, pomegranate and grapefruit are delicacies found only on Molly’s summer seasonal menu. Compared to other ice cream shops, Molly’s ice creams are less sweet and more flavorful, gaining them popularity amongst young women and students.
