Busan Port Lighting Festival

During the annual Busan Port Lighting Festival, a myriad of lights illuminate the port area, while various performances and experience programs take place across the city. Some of the highlights of the festival include the hot air balloon station and the International Performance Arts & Art Camp, which stages several light and laser shows.

Gochang Moyang Fortress Festival
 
Jeollabuk-do(Gochang-gun) ,
The Moyang Fortress was built by the region’s citizens in order to block the 1453 invasion of Japanese forces. It is also called the 'Gochang Eupseong'. The circumference of the fortress is measured at 1,684m and it has a x_height of 4~6m with three main gates and various facilities for soldiers. Parts have been burned down and are currently undergoing restoration. The main event of the Gochang Moyang Fortress Festival is the ‘Dapseongdori’, an event where you carry rock on top of your head and round the fortress three times. This ceremony is attended by all the region’s citizens as it is said to cure all illnesses, grant you a long and healthy life, and allow you into Heaven when you die. Aside from the Dapseongdori event, the festival includes a Joseon Dynasty military ceremony and there are many other sights to see.

Gamaek Festival (가맥축제)

Byulbyul Yeonhee Gukak Concert

Byulbyul Yeonhee is a gukak festival where citizens can sit back, relax, and enjoy traditional Korean culture. The performance groups who will showcase their talents to audiences were selected through a competition. Daejeon International Wine Fair

The Daejeon International Wine Festival takes place every year, showcasing a variety of imported wines as well as domestically produced wines and traditional liquors. About 10,000 different wines can be seen during this festival. Asian Wine Trophy, a huge scale wine tasting event, and the Asia Wine Buyer’s Conference that offers information regarding wine, will be held altogether. In addition, various food and performance will be offered along with diverse festival programs at the areas of Hanbit Tower Square.

Gimje Moaksan Festival

Since 2008, Gimje-si has hosted the Gimje Moaksan Festival, famous for its cherry blossoms. During the festival, the mountain is packed with visitors from the province and urban areas to enjoy the cherry blossoms. The districts of Geumpyeong Reservoir and Cheongdo-ri gil Road nearby make for a great drive to see all the cherry blossoms, and a reason that brings visitors back again year after year. Moaksan Mountain, with its thousand years of Silla Dynasty, is located in Geumsan-myeon of Gimje. Geumsansa, Gwisinsa, Suwangsa, and Daewonsa Temples are enveloped by Moaksan Mountain. Standing tall in the eastern part, it allows you overlook the Honam plains at a glance. It is also noted for its scenic beauty as well as lots of cultural properties, including national treasures. It even topped the list of the four best natural scenic views in the Honam region. Geumsansa Temple was established in the Baekje period (599 AD) featuring over ten designated cultural properties, including Mireukjeon, the country’s only three-storey building. In spring, the temple is thronging with tourists coming to see the beautiful cherry blossom trees in full bloom along the Bangdeunggyedan stairs that enshrines Sari, a cremated remain of Buddha.

Namyangju Dasan Culture Festival

Dasan Cultural Festival will take place in the area of Dasan Heritage Site and Dasan Ecological Park in Namyangju-si. The festival has been held annually since 1986 in memory of the spirit of Dasan Jeong Yakyong, a scholar of the late Joseon Dynasty whose hometown was Namyangju-si. During the festival, various performances and hands-on programs will be prepared for visitors.

Iksan Seodong Festival

The Iksan Seodong Festival is held for two days in Seodong Park in Geumna-myeon, Iksan-si, Jeollabuk-do. The festival, which started as the Mahan Folk Festival in 1969, celebrates the city of Iksan-si. Iksan-si will bring to life the 1400 year old Baekje's Kingdom and hold the festival to express the meaning of world heritage.

Gyeryongsan Mountain Sanshinje

Gyeryongsan Mountain is known for its diverse range of plants and animals, natural surroundings, mysterious legends, and cultural treasures that have made the mountain one of Korea's sacred mountains since the ancient times. Many visitors travel to the mountain every year for some spiritual healing and meditation. A traditional ceremony that originally began as a gesture of gratitude continued from the Baekje through the Joseon Dynasties, the Sanshinje was recognized as a national event. However, it was temporarily halted when the supervising party of the festival had to stop holding the ceremony in order to join the fight against the Japanese occupation. The festival was later restored by Sim U-Seong, the head of the Gongju Folk Drama Museum, and is now held annually in April. The ceremony draws many visitors thanks to the beautiful spring scenery of Gyeryongsan Mountain. There are also many attractions and traditional performances during the event. Yanghwa-ri Village, the main venue of the festival, is where the heritage and culture of Sanshinje ceremony are well preserved.
