Seongbuk Culture Diversity Festival

Held along Seongbukdong-gil Road, Seongbuk Multicultural Food Festival is held to commemorate the World Day for Cultural Diversity, and to foster opportunities for interaction among foreign community members through multiethnic foods. In addition, this festival tries to contribute to understanding and respecting the cultural diversity between ethnic groups, nations, and people by sharing and exhibiting traditional costumes, literature, and many artistic talents. The road will be closed during the designated days to be used as the festival venue.

Gimje Horizon Festival
Jeollabuk-do(Gimje-si)

Gimje Horizon Festival, held from late September to early October every year since 1999, takes place at Byeokgolje Reservoir, which is the heart of the Honam rice bowl. The festival aims to show the importance of Korea’s farming culture, which is a foundation of the nation, with the theme of sky and land meeting at the horizon. The festival also aims to promote the regional image and economy. Many dynamic and active programs are available for festival-goers to participate in before the golden horizon.Byeokgolje, the largest irrigation facility in the world, built 1,700 years ago during Baekje (King Biryu, 330), is embraced by the city of Gimje. Thanks to Byeokgolje, the area of Gimje is the birth place of Korea’s rice farming and agricultural culture. During the Baekje period, it was called ‘Byeokgolgun’ (a village of rice) which came from the fact that this area was the first area to start rice farming.During the festival, domestic and overseas visitors can take part in various hands-on programs feeling Korean farming culture in Byeokgolje (Historic Site No. 111). Visitors of all ages can easily take part in these programs to educate, inspire, and enjoy with a theme of spacious plains to the horizon. Events include kite-flying, rice-farming, catching grasshoppers, Korea Straw and Plants handicraft, making rice over an open fire, and other activities to entertain visitors.

Gamcheon Culture Village Street Festival is an annual event organized entirely by the local residents, from the planning stage to the operation. Gamcheon Culture Village was formed after the Korean war, when many refugees settled in the area, building houses one on top of the other. Wandering through the streets and alleys, you will get to know the hidden stories of the grandfathers and grandmothers living here. Small performances will take place on the rooftops above, adding a lively feel to this unique festival.

Damyang Bamboo Festival

Busan International Short Film Festival

The Busan International Short Film Festival started in the 1980s as the ‘Korea Short Film Festival,’ introducing a variety of domestic short films including 8mm films and independent movies produced by university students and citizens. In 2000, the festival was renamed the ‘Busan Asian Short Film Festival’ and expanded to include short movies from all across Asia, many of which included popular Asian films of the year. As time went on, the festival once again expanded its scope to include films from around the world and was renamed the ‘Busan International Short Film Festival’ in 2010. When it first started, the festival laid a foundation for the development of Korean movies. Seosan Haemieupseong Fortress Festival
Chungcheongnam-do(Seosan-si)

The Haemieupseong Fortress in Seosan City is the most intact fortress in Korea. Built around 600 years ago during the Joseon period, the fortress is a historically significant site where both the commander-in-chief of Chungcheong-do Province and the great Admiral Yi Sun-shin had once served. It is also a sacred ground of martyrs as nearly 1,000 Roman Catholics were executed in 1866. In modern times, the fortress served as the backdrop for the turbulent Donghak Peasants Revolution (1894) and Catholic Persecution.The Seosan Haemieupseong Festival offers a variety of exciting programs with a theme of the traditional Korean market. This includes diverse cultural performances such as tightrope walking, folk music, traditional orchestral music, and outdoor theatricals.
