Bijarim Road 비자림로
- cyber.jeju.go.kr
Bijarim Road stretches over 27 km between Pyeongdae-ri and Bonggae-dong, Gujwa-eup, in Jeju City and is lined by majestic cedar trees and glittering silver blades of grass; and runs through a major ancient Jeju forest.
Bijarim Road came into the spotlight when it was voted the most scenic road in Korea in a survey done by the then Ministry of Construction and Transportation in 2002. The famous road attracts people looking for a nice Sunday drive and those who wish to hike in the area.
From the road, one can see horses roaming freely on lush grass fields against a backdrop of Mt. Halla and smaller parasitic cones (called Oreum in Jeju Island dialect). There are even a few places where visitors can ride horses, mountain ATVs, and mountain carts. Some destinations located along the way are the Seongeup Folk Village, Sangumburi Crater, Jeju Mini Mini Land, and Jeju Art Land.
