Jeongdongjin Station

Jeongdongjin Station is a small-sized station built on November 8, 1962. The area around the station gained popularity as a filming site of the drama “Sandglass” and is also widely famous for its sunrise view.

Cheongdo Hanok School
 
Gyeongsangbuk-do(Cheongdo-gun) ,
Located on the slopes of Mt. Namsan (home to Cheongdo-gun’s landmark Nakdae Waterfall), the Cheongdo Hanok School is an educational center for carpenters who specialize in traditional Korean architecture (hanok). Hanok (traditional Korean houses) hold cultural and historical value and the school has been gaining in popularity not only among carpenters, but also those who are interested in enjoy and upholding Korea's proud architectural history. The entrance of the school is marked with a large traditional "Neowa" (a house roofed with thick, unfinished shingles of pine) that immediately catches the eye. The school provides 3 types of courses. There is a basic carpentry course to teach people how to make wooden objects and structures, a course to nurture professional carpenters, and a course to teach carpenters how to build Hanok. The school’s hands-on programs offer visitors a chance to make a traditional Korean window and to saw and plane wood. There are cultural programs for children as well. Children, along with their parents, can make rice cake by pounding rice with a large hammer, bake sweet potatoes, or join a seminar on traditional Korean houses. The cultural programs change with each season.

Hwajinpo Aquarium

Goseong-gun’s Hwajinpo Aquarium (화진포 해양박물관) is located in the Hwajinpo area of Gangwondo Province and consists of two exhibition rooms with one room featuring a total of 40,000 or 1,500 species shellfish including rare shellfish, crustaceans, coral, fossils and a stuffed specimens; and the other displaying 125 species of 3,000 fish living in fish tanks of varying sizes and shapes designed and equipped in accordance with the characteristics and habitats of each species of fish. There is a 300 ton overhead underwater tunnel on the first floor of the fish exhibition room. The second floor is home to the Ocean Beach and Beautiful East Sea Exhibitions; the Invertebrate Animal Center along with a 3-D Theater that shows films like "Hwajinpo Becomes a Lake", "Ocean Day", and the "Amazing Underwater Trip.

Oceano Tourism Complex

With excellent views of the unfolding blue ocean, Oceano Tourism Complex offers visitors a great relaxing opportunity by way of their varied facilities such as golf links zone, auto camping site zone, cultural arts zone, and marine world zone that are planned to be established. Particularly, Pine Beach Golf Site located inside the tourism complex is surrounded by the ocean, and is perfect for playing a round of golf toward the endless ocean. The course is regarded as Asia’s Pebble Beach which is a small coastal resort destination and home to famous golf courses in California.

Seoul Animation Center (서울애니메이션센터)

The Seoul Animation Center was established by the Seoul Metropolitan Government in May 1999 with the aim of providing comprehensive support to Korea’s cartoon and animation industry. The center runs an information desk, offers educational programs, holds events to support new talents and productions, and hosts diverse events and exhibitions.

Lohas Park & Wacapuca

Wondae-ri Birch Forest

From 1974 to 1995, Wondae-ri Birch Forest has been reforested with approxmiately 690,000 birch trees in an area of 138 hectares, with 25 hectares of land being used as children's forest experience center. Tour of the forest is available by following its walking trail, only after completing a registration at the forest entrance. The forest was designed to promote educational and environmental values and recognize the beauty unique to the birch forest.

Eorayeon Valley

A beautiful and mysterious valley located 12 km up the Donggang River, Eorayeon Valley is renowned for its clean waters and for the many fish that inhabit it. The valley has beautiful rock formations and a dense pine forest were designated as the No.14 National Scenic Spot in December 2004. It is one of Korea's most popular sites for rafting, followed by Naerincheon Creek and Cheolwon's Hangtan River. The trail to Eorayeon by way of Jatbong Peak is also quite popular (approx. 3 hours).

Yeongdeok Sunrise Park

A large fire razed the lush pine forests and pristine coastline of the Donghae area in Changpo-ri, several years ago. But, thanks to strenuous restoration efforts over the past four years, a beautiful park along the scenic seashore and an unmanned lighthouse have been built. Also, a fascinating promenade has been constructed, using sleeper stairs made from the remnants of burnt trees. The observation deck enjoys a broad, open view of the surrounding area and is the best place for photography. A citizens’ shelter, in the form of a pergola, has also been constructed. A series of 18 musical fish sculptures have been installed, and an ecological education field has been developed with wildflowers and native plant species.
