* What is rafting? Originally, rafting was a term used when riding along on a raft built with logs. However, rafting is now known as a popular water sport where a team of people on PVCs or rubber rafts use paddles to navigate themselves down adventurous ravines or fast-flowing river rapids. * Advantages of Rafting First of all, all you need is water and flowing rapids in order to safely enjoy yourself with speed and thrills. Secondly, since this is a sport where a group of people need to work together, you foster team spirit and patience. Last of all, you will need to use all of your strength to navigate through the water currents with paddles, resulting in a full-body workout body while taking in the crisp, clean air of the mountains.

The city of Bupyeong is surrounded by Gyeyangsan Mountain, Cheolmasan Mountain, and Manwolsan Mountain, which all form a basin-shaped area in the center. Bupyeong slowly began to establish itself as a city after the opening of Gyeongin railway and the U.S. Army base established right after the Korean War.Sinteuri Park in Bupyeong 4(sa)-dong neighborhood is equipped with outdoor recreational facilities including a soccer field, tennis court, badminton court, children’s playground, walking trail, and water fountain, spanning an impressive 58,594㎡. It also has a library with 1,500 seats, and a floor area of 7,869㎡. The park serves as a main recreational area for Bupyeong-area residents.

Hani Lavender Farm was opened on a 33,000㎡ plot of land in 2006 by Ha Deok-ho, the "lavendar missionary." Mr. Ha originally operated an herb shop in Gyeonggi-do but moved to Goseong to grown his own lavendar for use in products. The area of the farm has the ideal condition for lavender to grow.

Singwangsa Temple is located on the Nojeoksan Mountain. It is estimated to have been built 160 years ago, and renovated in 1920 by head priest Lee Gyeong-jik. The temple, originally called Togoljeol or Suryangsa, was renamed Singwangsa by monk Hyewon in 1980.

Daejeon National Cemetery covers a vast area of land spanning around 330,000㎡. The cemetery is comprised of graves for the deceased patriots, men of national merit, generals, officers, soldiers, etc. Major facilities include the Memorial Tower and Memorial Gate for paying reverence to the patriotic spirits, Patriotic Spirit Exhibition Center displaying photos and articles left by the deceased, and an outdoor exhibition space, where military battle equipments are on display. Other facilities within the cemetery grounds include fountains, statues, sculptures, pavilions, and Hyeonchungji, which is a man-made pond in the shape of the Korean peninsula. The cemetery is well kept with ample rest areas against the backdrop of the beautiful natural landscape.

Cheokpanam Hermitage was initially built in 673 by a monk named Wonhyo, whose legend is still passed down, and was restored in 1938 by another monk named Gyeongheo. Nestled inside the forest on Bulgwangsan Mountain, the hermitage offers a splendid view of the its surroundings. It is located nearby Jangansa Temple, also built by Wonhyo.

Gangneung Culture & Art Center is a cultural facility located in Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do Province. The center opened on Jan 30th, 1992 through the local municipal office in order to provide cultural events for local residents and to advance local culture & art. The facility has a grand theater, small theater, exhibition hall, and outdoor show room. Every year, a variety of programs such as theater, music, dance and other cultural performances are held along with diverse exhibitions and educational and training programs.
