Samgilpo Port in Hwagok-ri, Daesan-eup, Chungcheongnam-do is located at the end of Daeho Seawall, which connects Hwagok-ri, Daesan-eup and Gyoro-ri, Seongmun-myeon, Dangjin-gun. The floodgate of the Daeho Seawall is also located at the site. The 7.8-km-long Daeho Seawall was completed on November 16, 1984. It is a scenic ocean drive with an expansive view of the large and small islands floating on the sea. It is also a popular sea fishing venue. In the middle of Daeho Seawall, is Dobido Island. It was developed as a recreational site equipped with accommodations, sports and recreation facilities, and a farmer’s market. It has since become a highly favored tourist destination. Around Samgilpo Port are a number of sashimi (Korean raw fish) restaurants where visitors can enjoy fresh seafood with a great view in a tranquil atmosphere. Daeho Seawall is also known as paradise for winter migratory birds, so each winter it attracts a number of birds, photographers, and birdwatchers.

Masan Dotseom Marine Park (돝섬해상유원지)

Dotseom (돝섬) is an island 10 minutes off Masan Port. ‘Dot’ is an ancient name for pigs after which the island was named because its shape resembles that of a reclining pig. Gagopa Land is an amusement park located on Dotseom Island accessible by frequent ferry services that connect the island and Masan Port. Gagopa Land includes amusement facilities, restaurants and paths for walkers. On the island’s peak there is a 2000 m² wooden-floor observation deck where you can enjoy the sea view. Yeongchuksan Mountain(영축산)

Located in the Gajisan Provincial Park, Yeongchuksan Mountain has an elevation of 1,059 meters. The name of the mountain “Yeongchuk” is known to have originated from the name of a mountain in the ancient kingdom of Magadha in central India. The mountain is also called Chwiseosan and has such beautiful scenery that it is often referred to as the Alps of Yeongnam. The broad valley that extends at the foot of Yeongchuksan Mountain provides a great walk to the hermitages scattered around the famous Tongdosa Temple. Yeongchuksan Mountain is considered the best of the eight beautiful places in Yangsan City. The other seven places are Cheonseogsan Mountain, Naewonsa Valley, Hongryong Falls, Baenaegol Valley, Cheontaesan Mountain, Imgyeongdae Terrace on Obongsan Mountain, and Tapgol Recreational Forest on Daeunsan Mountain.

Seongho Memorial Hall (성호기념관)

The Seongho Memorial Hall was built by the municipality of Ansan in memory of Seongho Yi Ik (1681-1763), a great Neo-Confucian scholar from Ansan, to house his personal academic works and associated artifacts. The memorial hall was opened in May 2002 and has on exhibit the personal handwritten materials and works of Yi Ik and other relics related to his studies and philosophy. Major exhibits include Yi Ik’s hand-written poems and letters, the Seongho literary book, and books written by Toegye Yi Hwang, Misu Heo Bok, Bangye Yu Hyeong-won, and Dasan Jeong Yak-yong, most of which are the original copies. There are also a significant number of relics on exhibit that were once owned by individual collectors.

Gyeonghogang River (경호강)

Gyeonghogang denotes the 32km-long waterway from Gangjeong Village in Eoseo-ri, Saengcho-myeon, Sancheong-gun to Jinyangho Lake in Jinju. Drivers can enjoy the beautiful scenery around the river as it runs parallel to National Road No. 3.The river does not have big rocks but has sandy banks and pebbles instead. Every year on New Year’s Eve, a bell ringing ceremony takes place during the area’s sunrise festival as those separated from their families wish for reunification.
