The Sanmaki Yetgil (Old Road) is a 4-kilometer long old path connecting Saorang Village (located in Waesa-ri, Chilseong-myeon, Goesan-gun Chungcheongbuk-do Province) to the mountain village Sanmaki. Restored by retracing the old path, Sanmaki Yetgil is a great walking trail passing by mountains, streams, and forests. Most of the path is paved with wooden deck in the eco-friendly method to minimize damages to the environment and to maintain the natural look. The surrounding beauty is recognized as the best scenic view of Goesan. The natural ecosystem around Goesan Dam has been preserved in its original state.

21th DongGang International Photo Festival 2023  The Magical Unknowns We cordially invite you to submit your creative work to the prestigious 21st DongGang International Photo Festival, taking place from July 21st to September 24th, 2023, in the picturesque Yeongwol, Korea. ▲ DongGang International Photo Festival 2022 Curiosity, the desire to explore the unknown, is an inherent human need. The unknown may encompass not only what is completely unfamiliar but also what is presently disregarded or avoided. Often, uncharted territories have had the most profound impact on human history, whether previously unknown, unimagined, or simply neglected. The unknown need not be solely enigmatic or sacred. Whatever it may be, it holds its own irreplaceable magic. Those who are receptive to the unknown have the privilege of unlocking its mysteries and experiencing its wonder. Venturing into the unknown can be an extremely liberating and world-changing experience. What stories and secrets do the countless mysteries of the world hold? How will these magnificent narratives unfold? The sheer thrill of the hidden secrets and magic within the seemingly mundane and trivial can be utterly exhilarating! Individuals and collectives are welcome to apply; individuals should submit between 8 - 12 photographs from a particular series or body of work. Nadeul-gil means a leisurely outing (nadeuri) road. Comprised of 19 courses in total, the Ganghwa Nadeul-gil Trail offers a variety of historical assets and cultural sites to see. Each Nadeul-gil course connects Ganghwa Fortress outposts that are located every 1.3 km on high ground along the walking paths. The trails are on the island of Ganghwa which holds many Goryeo Dynasty remains that are important to Korean history. Fortresses that stood against Mongolian invasions are still standing and many of the Goryeo Kingdom’s palaces and royal tomb sites are also found in Ganghwa region. Exploring the major cultural heritage sites dispersed throughout the town can be just as fun as exploring Ganghwa’s natural beauty. The sunset on the Seohae (West coast), expansive open mud flats, views from Marisan and Goryeosan Mountains and the peaceful farming villages are just a handful of the sights along this walking trail. The establishment of Ganghwa Nadeul-gil’s begins with the ancient scholar Go Jae-hyeong (pen name Hwanam), who left his hometown Ganghwa on a spring day in 1906 when the peach trees were in full bloom. He walked through more than 100 villages around the whole island. Back home, he composed poems about his journey and published them under the title of “Simdo Gihaeng (Simdo Travels),” Simdo being another name for Ganghwa. During his travels, he sang songs of his home Ganghwa. Thanks to his work, people can now follow in the footsteps of Hwanam and his appreciation of the beautiful scenery and great people of Ganghwa Island.

Namwon Confucian School is a national secondary educational institute for students in the Namwon area built during the Joseon Dynasty. The school is located at the foot of Daegoksan Mountain. It was opened to enshrine the tablets of Hyeon Yu and provide education to the local people. Enshrined in the school are the tablets of the Five Sages, the Four Wise Men of the Song Dynasty, and the 18 Wise Men of Korea.

The city of Bupyeong is surrounded by Gyeyangsan Mountain, Cheolmasan Mountain, and Manwolsan Mountain, which all form a basin-shaped area in the center. Bupyeong slowly began to establish itself as a city after the opening of Gyeongin railway and the U.S. Army base established right after the Korean War.Sinteuri Park in Bupyeong 4(sa)-dong neighborhood is equipped with outdoor recreational facilities including a soccer field, tennis court, badminton court, children’s playground, walking trail, and water fountain, spanning an impressive 58,594㎡. It also has a library with 1,500 seats, and a floor area of 7,869㎡. The park serves as a main recreational area for Bupyeong-area residents.

Cheokpanam Hermitage was initially built in 673 by a monk named Wonhyo, whose legend is still passed down, and was restored in 1938 by another monk named Gyeongheo. Nestled inside the forest on Bulgwangsan Mountain, the hermitage offers a splendid view of the its surroundings. It is located nearby Jangansa Temple, also built by Wonhyo.

Baegunbong (alt. 940m) is a sharp pointed peak that sits on the border between Yangpyeong-eup and Okcheon-myeon in Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do Province. It is the highest of the peaks along the southern ridge of Yongmunsan Mountain (alt. 1,157m). The two most popular hiking trails along Baegunbong start at Yeonsu-ri in Yongmun-myeon and offer a relatively short hike to the summit.
