The Ttukseom Water Purification Plant (Waterworks Museum and Slow Sand Filtration Basin) was completed in August 1908 as the first water purification plant ever built in Korea. In 2008, it celebrated 100 years of history with the opeing of the Waterworks Museum, which showcases the history and value of Seoul's public waterworks. The water supply facility and Slow Sand Filtration Basin are designated No.72 Tangible Cultural Asset of Seoul.

Gadeokdo Lighthouse is a manned lighthouse patterned after gothic style lighthouses in France. Built in December, 1909 at the end of the Daehan Empire (official title of Korea from Oct. 12, 1897 to Aug. 29, 1910), it is an intricate building that houses a light tower (9.2m high), an office, and a lighthouse keeper’s room. Plum blossoms, the symbol of the imperial family of Joseon, are delicately carved along this European-style building. It is considered a remarkable cultural property not only because of its architectural design, unique shape or historic value, but also because it has been surprisingly well-maintained, especially in comparison to other lighthouses built during the same period. In recognition of its unmatchable style and preservation, the old Gadeokdo lighthouse was designated Tangible Cultural Property No. 50 of Busan in Sep. 2003. It is owned and managed by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. A new lighthouse was built next to the original one in 2002. The new one is octagonal in shape and 40.5m high, the second highest lighthouse in Korea. Gadeokdo, the location of Gadeokdo lighthouse, is often referred to as the ‘Island of History,’ and is the largest island in Busan. Gadeokdo, a strategically important base for military operations and seaborne trade, was the stage for a number of gruesome battles during the Japanese invasion in 1592. Today, it is a critical entry point to the Jinhae Bay. Gadeokdo Lighthouse is part of one the nation’s naval bases. Therefore, visitors must contact and register with the Busan Regional Maritime Affairs and Port Office prior to visiting the lighthouse. Those who participate in the Lighthouse Experience Program (parties of 6 or less) can spend the night in the innkeeper’s room free of charge. In order to use these accommodations, visitors must apply online at the Busan Regional Maritime Affairs and Port’s homepage between the 1st and the 8th of the month, one month prior to desired date of visit.  

Barae-gil Road gets its name from the belief of Namhae families that the ocean gives life. The purpose of walking along Barae-gil Road is not to simply get some exercise, but to learn life experiences through participating in activities along the way, such as farming and fishing. Course 1 - Daraengi Jiget-gil Trail stretches along the coast from Sachon Beach to Daraengi Village. The trail spans 16km and takes around 5 hours to complete. The trail affords views of the incredible natural scenery from the ocean waves pounding onto the pebble beaches to the terraced fields of rice.

Divided into four areas (Mungyeong, Gaeun, Maseong and Nongam), the Mungyeong Special Tourist Zone is a charming place to relax and experience a variety of activities in nature. Here visitors can find attractions such as the Mungyeong Hot Springs, Mungyeongsaejae Provincial Park and the KBS Film Set. The Mungyeong area is home to Mungyeongsaejae, a mountain pass connecting Mungyeong City and Goesan County. During the Joseon period, Mungyeong Saejae played an important role as the gateway in and out of Gyeongsang Province. Saejae, meaning “bird pass,” refers to “a pass so high and steep that even birds find the crossing difficult.” The Mungyeongsaejae-gil road inside Mungyeongsaejae Provincial Park is well developed and suitable for hikers of all ages. Here, visitors can appreciate the lush forest and the fall foliage in autumn. There are three gates along the pass: Juheulgwan, Jogokgwan, and Joryeonggwan. There are also hiking trails leading to nearby mountains such as Juheulsan Mountain and Tanhyangsan Mountain. The nearby Mungyeong Hot Spring is perfect for unwinding after a long hike. The SBS Film Set and the Mungyeong Coal Museum are located in the Gaeun area just south of Mungyeong. Daeyasan Mountain and Yongchu Valley are located nearby and the area has plenty of accommodation facilities for tourists and hikers. Mungyeong rail bike, which departs from Gaeun Station and Gurang-ri Station, is also popular. Popular summer destinations such as Ssanyong Valley and STX Resort are located in the Nongam area. Mt. Naeyeonsan (내연산) in Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do is located in the southern Taebaek Mountains. Hywangrobong Peak, the highest peak, is 930 meters above sea level. The ancient Bogyeongsa Temple (보경사) is located on this mountain, as are numerous beautiful waterfalls. If you reach Gwaneum Falls after passing by Ssangsaeng Falls, Sambo Falls, Boyeon Falls, and Jamyong Falls, you will find Gwaneum Cave. After continuing over a viaduct, you will finally come across Yeonsan Falls, the most magnificent and splendid waterfall among the 12 on Mt. Naeyeonsan. Hwangcheong Fishing Site, located in Hwangcheongpogu-ro, Naega-myeon, Ganghwa-gun, is a valley-type reservoir that was built in 1993. The site covers an area of about 76033 ㎡, and has an average water level of 2.5-4m with the highest water level being over 15m. The main fish species are crucian carps, common carps, leather carps, Korean bullheads, and pond smelt. Also near the fishing site are other facilities including pensions, bungalows, restaurants and snack bars.

Jucheongang Recreational Forest encompasses a forested area of 700,000-pyeong near Juchoengang River in Hoengseong-gun, Gangwon-do and is the nation’s first large-scale riverside forest. Located only 4km away from the Dunnaegyo Intersection of the Yeongdong Expressway, the recreational forest is easy accessible from Seoul. Pungam Reservoir was originally built in 1956 for agriculture, but was turned into a park in 1999 as part of the pilot program for developing parks nationwide. It is a popular resting area featuring traditional pavilions and wooden bridges.
