Gajisan Provincial Park
Gyeongsangnam-do(Yangsan-si)

Designated as a provincial park in November 1979, Gajisan Provincial Park (가지산도립공원) covers the Tongdosa Temple (통도사) area of Habuk-myeon, Yangsan; the Naewonsa Temple (내원사) area; and the Seoknamsa Temple area of Sangbuk-myeon, Ulju-gun, Ulsan. Mt. Yeongchuksan, located in the Yangsan part of the park, is called ‘Korea’s Southeastern Alps’ for its superb scenery and naturally draws many hikers. The cool water flowing in the valley that runs down the mountain is another source that attracts hikers. Popular tourist attractions in the park include Mt. Cheonseongsan, Tongdosa Temple and Naewonsa Temple.

Jangsudae

Jangsudae (장수대) is a traditional Korean house surrounded by a pine tree forest. It was built where the waterfall stream meets the Hangyecheon Stream, and Jayangjeon was originally built here. General Oh Deuk-Jun proposed to establish this site to pray for the souls of the soldiers who died in the Korean War. The south Korean soldiers built this traditional villa and named it Jangsudae. Lee Eun-Sang (1903-1982) wrote poems of the sorrow that the war had brought while he was at this place. Across the villa is the Jangsudae ticket booth, and this is the starting point of the mountain hiking of Daeseung Falls and Daeseungryeong. Nearby Jangsudae is Daesueng Falls and Oknyeotang, which is named after the story that an angel was relaxing at the waterfall and was chased by a large centipede and had to run away to this bath. This site is a popular tourist site for the Gama-tang, Hangyesanseong Fortress, and Haneulbyeok where tourists come to relax. This villa has a capacity of 100 people, which is large for a villa in the mountains. The high peak you see over Hangyecheon Stream from Jangsudae is Mt. Garisan. It forms the mountaintop with Jugeokbong Peak and Three brother-bong peaks.

Deogyusan Mountain National Park
Gyeongsangnam-do(Geochang-gun)

Designated as National Park in 1975, Deogyusan National Park (덕유산국립공원, 1,614m) covers four counties. The ridgeline from the Hyangjeokbong peak of Mt. Bukdeogyusan to Mt. Namdeogyusan is 17.5km, and the altitude is 1,200m high. There are five peaks over 1,330m above sea level and eight large valleys. Mt. Deogyusan is one of Korea's tourist highlights and boasts temples, relics as well as a ski resort. Of the many wonderful sites, Mujuguchon-dong, the 25km valley range from Najetong gate to Baekryeonsa Temple, is especially noted as one of the 10 best tourist areas of Korea. Every valley has scenic spots and Gucheon-dong is particularly famous. Baekryeonsa Temple is located at the end of Gucheon-dong Valley. It is famous for the Stone Samjon Buddha, cerated during the Goryeo Dynasty and many monks came from this temple before and after the Injinwaeran War (1592~1598). Also, Jeoksangsanseong Fortress, Anguksa Temple, Guebul and many other relics are scattered throughout the park. Mt. Deogyusan boasts an abundance of beauty throughout all four seasons, and the 600 species of animals and plants, including the unique landscape of the yew trees are especially eye-catching.

Public Cheongsong Yasong Art Gallery

The Cheongsong Yasong Art Gallery was established by Cheongsong-gun County and opened on April 29, 2005 in Sinchon-ri, Jinbo-myeon, Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province. The art gallery exhibits 350 Korean paintings and pottery works of Yasong Lee Won-jwa, who is a traditional Korean painter native to Cheongsong. Also on display are around 50 works of noted painters and sculptors from in and out of Korea, and over 10,000 art books, all of which have been donated to the gallery. The two-story building was formerly Sinchon Primary School, which was remodeled into an art gallery after its closure. The gallery facilities include exhibition halls, an art library, and an art education center for holding permanent and special exhibitions and educational programs.

Must-Visit Tourist Spot in Incheon: The Cheongil Jogyeji Border Stairway Cheongil Jogyeji Border Stairway If you are planning a trip to Incheon, one of Korea's representative cities, the Cheongil Jogyeji Border Stairway is a must-visit attraction. Located in Jeondong, Jung-gu, Incheon, this historical site marks the boundary between the Qing Dynasty and Japanese concessions established in 1884. It was designated as Incheon's Monument No. 51 on December 23, 2002. The area, which began with the Japanese concession in 1883, is a space where the boundary between the Qing Dynasty and Japanese concessions was established in 1884, connected by steps and landscaping to what is now Jayu Park (formerly known as Manguk Park). This stairway, with a history of about 120 years, has a central stone staircase, with the left side representing the Qing concession and the right side representing the Japanese concession. The buildings on either side of the stairs distinctly showcase the architectural styles and characteristics of each country. One of the notable features of the Cheongil Jogyeji Border Stairway is its design, which includes a rest area to accommodate the steep incline and landscaped areas for visitors to relax and enjoy the scenic views of Incheon Port. The stairs are located on the steep southwestern slope of Jayu Park, where the different architectural styles of the Qing and Japanese buildings vividly illustrate the historical significance of this area. While the stairs themselves might not hold much intrinsic value, the historical and locational significance of the Cheongil Jogyeji Border Stairway makes it a site of great importance. When visiting Incheon, it is highly recommended to explore this historic site along with Jayu Park, offering a glimpse into the intertwined history of Korea, Japan, and China.

Byeolbangjin Fortress

Byeolbangjin Fortress was designated as Jeju Monument No. 24 on April 13, 1973. The fortress is about 950 meters in circumference. The oval fortress was built in consideration of the location's topography having a higher terrain in the southern part and a lower terrain in the northern part. Of the fortresses in Jeju, Byeolbangjin Fortress is in relatively good shape. The fortress is also an important example of how fortresses in Jeju were built and in what scale.

Maritime & Fisheries Science Museum

The Maritime & Fisheries Science Museum is situated in Musulmok Resort, a historical site where Admiral Yi Sun-Shin won an important battle over the Japanese during the Imjin War (1592-1598). The Resort is connected to many popular tourist destinations along South Coast, such as Hallyeosudo Marine National Park. The major facilities of the museum include aquariums, maritime and fishery exhibition halls, a maritime science exhibition hall, a marine life cultivating facility and AV facilities. A 3-D theater and marine natural history exhibition hall were recently opened to enhance the visitor experience. In the lobby, a statue of red seabream (a type of fish and the symbol of Jeollanam-do Province) welcomes visitors, who are then guided into the main aquarium area by sea turtles and red seabreams swimming in a wave-shaped aquarium installed along the wall.

Wolchulsan Hot Springs

Wolchulsan Spa is located five kilometers northwest of the town of Yeongam. The spa overlooks the beautiful scenery of Wolchulsan Mountain, the extensive plain of Yeongam, and Yeongamcheon Stream, a tributary of Yeongsangang River. The source of Wolchulsan Spa’s hot spring waters is red feldspar granite (elvan) that forms the aquifer column of Wolchulsan Mountain. The adhesive and purifying properties of the elvan removes harmful organic matter and pollutants, resulting in pure, natural hot spring waters. Rich in all kinds of minerals, dissolved oxygen, and far-infrared emissivity, the elvan hot spring waters are known to be effective for alleviating various ailments such as fatigue, neuralgia, rheumarthritis, skin trouble, and athlete’s foot. Various tourist attractions are located nearby, including the Wolchulsan Mountain, the reed field in Miwangjae, and Dogapsa Temple, so visitors can enjoy a good rest at Wolchulsan Spa after sightseeing.
