Buljeong Recreational Forest

The path to Buljeong Recreational Forest, lined with cherry blossom trees, is a beautiful and dense forest that offers a relaxing walk among the trees. The free forest tour from March to December offers visitors a guided tour complete with commentary. The resting area in the forest includes a forest cabin and a camping site. Built between trees, the forest cabins are either log houses or red-clay houses. 12 of the 14 houses open all year round. In addition, the nine zip line courses add more excitement to the whole forest experience.

Woljeongni Station

Woljeongni Station (Iron Triangle Battlefield) is the last stop before reaching the DMZ. With the sign "The iron horse wants to run again," there stand remains of a train that was used to make frequent trips to North Korea. Located at the spot where the fiercest battle was held during the Korean War, this train marks the partition line of the Korean peninsula. These days Woljeongni Station is under the control of the Cheorwon-gun Office and hundreds of thousands of people visit this unique tourist area every year.

Yeongdeok New & Renewable Energy Center

Located on the Yeongdeok Wind Farm, Yeongdeok New & Renewable Energy Center allows visitors to learn more about new and renewable energy and Yeongdeok’s beautiful natural environment. On the first floor of the two–story center is a café and convenience facilities; on the second floor, visitors can learn about solar, wind, and geothermal energy. Visitors can even experience the power of renewable resources in action with a footbath warmed through solar energy. In the playground outside, the fun continues with a solar-powered bench that plays music when you sit down. On the top of the building is the Sky Garden, and on the hill next to the center is the Wind Garden, where a state-of-the-art telescope gives viewers a closer look at the surrounding wind turbines and the East Sea.

Nokjin Observatory

Nokjin observatory, located at the top of Manggeumsan Mountain, offers panoramic views of Jindo Bridge and the nearby attractions. The observatory is accessible by a moderate trek to the vista point which offers the best views of Uldolmok and Jindo Bridge. Visitors can use the Jindo Bridge and travel directly to the observatory by following the mountainside lane. The road continues to Byeokpajin, a heritage site of Admiral Yi Sun-sin.

Manghaesa Temple

If you travel along Geumsan Route 29 from Gimje you’ll soon come upon the city of Mangyeong. Continue along 12.3km west of the city and you’ll be rewarded by the sight of Manghaesa Temple sitting atop a cliff on the crest of Jinbongsan Hill. True to its name, which comes from the phrase ‘mang mang dae hae’ (roughly meaning ‘a boundless sea’), the temple commands a sweeping view of the ocean below.The temple was established by the great monk Buseol Geosa during the 2nd year of King Uija of Baekje (642 AD). Years later, Dobeopsa (a Chinese monk from the Tang dynasty) renovated the temple. The temple was altered again during the reign of King Injo of the Joseon Dynasty when the great monk Jinmuk Daesa built Nakseojeon Hall.

Hallyeohaesang National Park

Hallyeohaesang National Marine Park (한려해상국립공원) covers Gyeongsangnam-do Province’s Sacheon, Geoje, Tongyeong, Hadong and Namhae, and Jeonnam Province’s Yeosu. The 510,323㎢-wide sea park encompasses Dadohae Islets, Bijindo Island and Haegeumgang. The Donam Complex in Tongyeong is being developed as a world-class marine tourist attraction. On Hansando Island there are many historical sites dedicated or related to the great Admiral Sunsin Yi such as battlefields where the Admiral defeated Japanese naval forces. Other sites include those related to the Imjinwaeran War such as Jeseungdang, Chungryeolsa and the turtle lighthouse. The Sanyang Road is a great driving course along which you can look around the entire Mireukdo Island and appreciate the scenery. From Dalma Park you can enjoy the great view of Dadohae Islets. Major attractions include Hansando Island (main island), Bijindo Island and Maemuldo Islands; the latter two are often said to be the focal point of this scenic sea park.

Myeongji Valley

Myeongi Valley stretches eastward from the summit of Myeongjisan Mountatin, which is the second highest mountain in Gyeonggi-do. The valley is only about 10 m high, but it has stunning scenery with plenty of water powerfully cascading down over the rocks. Mysterious Road
