Picky Papa Daniel Forest

Last May, fans made a small forest within Seoul called “Daniel Forest” where fans can sit around, share stories, and rest whenever they miss Kang Daniel or want to cheer him on. This is a space set up on the outer terrace of café Picky Papa. Each tree and flower have been planted by fans, and the fans voluntarily take care of the forest. As a space filled with photos of Kang Daniel, cards with encouraging messages, and fan pics, the forest offers the enjoyment of seeing how the decorations change with every visit.

Kim Gwangbun's Pulhyanggi Sonkalguksu

Kim Gwangbun’s Pulhyanggi Sonkalguksu boasts a taste made from 16 years of tradition in serving kal-guksu (handmade noodle soup). The menu includes haemul-kal-guksu (noodle soup with various seafood) and bajirak-kal-guksu (noodle soup with clams). One of its hidden secrets to attract people is the meat broth boiled for four to seven hours. Also, the wang-mandu (big sized dumplings) and kimchi are special points at this restaurant. To keep the best freshness, the owner, Kim Gwangbun goes to the fishery market in person to select the ingredients for the day's meals at dawn. The restaurant is comprised of one main two-story building as well as an additional building.

Unamjeong

Located inside a Gwangwon-do Province resort, Unamjeong is an upscale Korean restaurant that features traditional dishes served in many different styles such as ilpum (main individual dishes), hanjeongsik (set dishes), natgoetsang (lunch) consisting of banga dishes (noble class cooking style), sikgaek (gourmet) bansang, sura jeongsik (royal court meal) and jineobyeol manchan (feast). The restaurant is largely divided into Bongwan (main restaurant), Daryegwan (tea house), Hwangjeonggwan and Sikgaekgwan (separate guest rooms), and Suratgan (kitchen), and has Unamji Pond and Unmaru Pavilion in its yard. Thanks to its authentic traditional meals and charming ambiance, Unamjeong is widely sought after by many for family gatherings and other occasions, including filming of Korean drama Sikgaek starring Kim Jeong-eun and Jin Gu.

Kudurae Dolssambap

Kudurae Dolssambap (구드래 돌쌈밥) serves the representative foods of Buyeo (the old capital of the ancient Baekje Kingdom) in a traditional setting with soft music and leafy plants both inside and out. Vegetables used in dishes are 100% pesticide and chemical-free. Of the 20-30 different types of the vegetable, diners can enjoy rare vegetables, edible flowers, and herbal greens with medicinal efficacy. The various veggies are particularly tasty when dipped in the restaurant’s homemade sauce.    

Geochangmaetdol

Geochangmaetdol is located near Oncheonjang, Geumjeongsanseong Fortress, as well as Busan Baseball stadium and sport complex and it uses fresh tofu made daily. On the first floor, the hall is set up for individuals to have a meal such as Maetdol sundubu (tofu), haemul sundubu (seafood tofu stew), gul sundubu (oyster tofu stew), gogi sundubu (meat tofu stew), galbi sundubu(short rib tofu stew), as well as tofu stew, tofu with kimchi, mapa dubu, and cheonggukjang (rich soybean paste). The second floor is appropriate for groups or families, enjoying dubu galbi-jjim (tofu with braised short ribs), dubu bossam (napa wraps with pork), sundubu-jeongol, kong-guksu (noodles in cold soybean soup), and more to choose from.  

Sanha

Sanha is a Hwanghae-style mandu (Korean dumplings) specialty restaurant. The mandu boasts very authentic flavors at the owner of the restaurant hails from Hwanghae. The prices are a bit high for mandu, but nevertheless there are always lines out the door. ​        

Mom's Cookie

If you are looking for a place to enjoy some homemade-style snacks while in Korea, Mom's Cookie is a definate stop to make. Located close to Seoul Nat'l Univ. of Education Station on Seoul Subway Line 2, it's very accessible and offers a unique activity for visitors to partake in. Equipped with a friendly and cozy interior, visitors to the shop can decorate their own sugar cookies and then take them home. Many young couples and families on mommy-daughter outings frequent the shop to create special presents for their loved ones. There are even more sweets listed on the menu, with their most popular treat being brownies topped with ice cream.
