Cheonan Gomtang Restaurant has a long history and has only served gomtang (beef stew) for fifty years. It was famous from its early years when President Seung-man Lee visited it when Busan was the provisional capital of the country. The restaurant does not have any branches and its location in front of the City Hall makes it a favorite among former mayors, assemblymen, public officials and businessmen. The menu item that is popular throughout the years is the seolleongtang, a milky colored beef bone soup made with brisket and other cuts, simmered over a low flame over a period of several hours, and is typically eaten together with rice and several side dishes.

Jangwidong Yuseong Jip (장위동유성집) is located 200m away from Myeongdong Station, this restaurant specializes in beef sirloin grilled over charcoal. It is famous for its affordable prices and great tasting menu, which satisfies both locals and travelers. Spacious facilities (about 165 m²) and a comfortable atmosphere have also added to the establishment’s popularity. English service is available.

The appearnce of this restaurant may seem old, but it's a recommended spot for a simple and delicous meal.

Tongin Market is the place to go for traditional gireum tteok-bokki. The market is well-known as the best place in Korea for gireum tteok-bokki, and even foreign tourists come to have a taste. Gireum tteok-bokki is made by stir-frying rice cakes in oil and seasonings. There are two types of gireum tteok-bokki sold here. One kind is seasoned with just oil and soy sauce; the other is seasoned with spicy red pepper flakes and oil. Three of Tongshin Market’s gireum tteok-bokki eateries are particularly famous and popular. One such eatery is Original Grandmother's Gireum Tteok-Bokki. The shop has been featured on TV programs. Another is Hyoja-dong’s Old School Tteok-Bokki, once visited by John Kerry in 2014 while he was the U.S. Secretary of State.

Palpal Minmul Jangeo (also called as Palpal Freshwater Eel) is a 30-year old restaurant specializing in dishes made with eel. Many people come to the restaurant to enjoy the savory and delicate taste of freshwater eel marinated with the restaurant’s novelty sauce that has been developed for 30 years.
