When cold winter wears off, there comes a warm spring. After enduring the hot summer heat, you get to enjoy a cool autumn breeze. Like spring, autumn seems to get shorter each year, which makes the season more beautiful and valuable.
Mountains and fields are full of autumn colors. Streets are covered with yellow ginkgo leaves.
Autumn colors are not as bright as spring flowers, yet no one can paint things so beautifully.
Autumn deepens. Let me introduce you to the best autumn outings in Incheon if you’re looking for a short trip.

1. Gyeyangsan Mountain

Gyeyangsan Mountain is the highest peak (395 meters above sea level) in Incheon excluding Ganghwado Island and the most popular mountain among the city's residents. The name 'Gyeyang' has come from the names of the two most popular trees in the mountain - the laurel and the buxus whose Korean names have the syllables 'gye' and 'yang' in them. The mountain is known for its stunning scenery. Follow the walking trail around the mountain. You will see not only lots of maple and ginkgo trees but also plenty of Siberian chrysanthemums and Thunberg's chives. The plants are so beautiful that you will not even notice you are going up quite steep trails. If you want to relax, you can go to the forest bath park. Its trail boasts lots of phytoncides. The Rose Garden is full of beautiful autumn colors as the garden is filled with not only the rose but also the chrysanthemum of various kinds.

2. Bomunsa Temple

Bomunsa Temple is known as the three largest residences of Bodhisattva of Compassion, along with Boriam Hermitage in Namhae and Hongnyeonam Hermitage of Naksansa Temple in Yangyang. As the temple is located in the middle of Nakgasan Mountain, it is rather difficult to walk to the highest point in the temple. Yet the view of the West Sea from there is absolutely exquisite. In autumn, fall foliage perfectly matches the grace of the statues and architecture of the temple. The highlight is the rock-carved seated Buddha sitting at the top of 500 flights of stairs. The height of the stairs could be scary particularly to those who don’t exercise regularly. However, the autumn scenery from the top will be something that you will never want to miss. (Supposedly, one of your many wishes comes true if you reach the top.)

3. Seongmodo Recreational Forest

Located in Sangbongsan Mountain, Seongmodo Recreational Forest is a perfect place to enjoy a mountain while enjoying the majestic view of the sea. In autumn, you can relish the beautiful fall foliage in the mountain, the golden rice paddy in the field, and a water horizon in the distance. The recreational forest offers three types of hiking trails for both beginner and seasoned hikers. You can choose one of them depending on your preference and enjoy the beauty of autumn in Korea. Walking the trails in the evening is even better as you can admire the beautiful sunset in the West Sea. You can also spend the night in the accommodation facility of the recreational forest for a very special memory.

4. Incheon Grand Park

Recognized as the ultimate place of rest for the citizens of Incheon, Incheon Grand Park is an eco-friendly park featuring both a mountain and a lake. It is a popular destination for family picnics, romantic dates for loved ones, and young schoolchildren's field trips. The park boasts beauty around the year. In autumn, one of its hot spots is the buckwheat field created in its wildflower garden. From a distance, the field looks as if white snow fell upon green leaves. The flowers also look like waves constantly moving with the wind. The place is highly recommended to those who are getting tired of fall foliage or seeking to find a very special place for memorable photos.

5. Jayu Park

Jayu Park is Korea's first public park. It has long been the symbol of Incheon. It is situated in Eungbongsan Mountain behind China Town. It overlooks the Incheon Port and Wolmido Island (which is now connected to the mainland by a highway). It is visited by many citizens. In spring, it is famous for cherry blossoms. In autumn, it features impressive fall foliage of its dense forest. The colorful beauty overwhelms visitors as much as it does in spring with cherry blossoms. (A special tip: The park is even prettier in the evening.)
