Hwahongmun Gate
Gyeonggi-do(Suwon-si) , suwon

Suwon River cuts across Hwaseong Fortress from the north to the south. Water gates were installed on the north and south walls to allow the river to flow through. Hwahongmun Gate is the north water gate of the fortress, containing seven arches, constructed in varying sizes, to let the water through. The central opening is larger than those toward the outside, making it easier to control the flow of water.

Cheonggyesan Mountain

Cheonggyesan Mountain surrounds Seoul Grand Park, SeoulLand and National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Gwacheon. The mountain boarders the area of Yangjae-dong, Seoul and Gwacheon-si, Seongnam-si, and Uiwang-si, Gyeonggi-do. The mountain is nestled at the foot of Gwanaksan Mountain, south of downtown Gwacheon. Dense forests, neat valleys, parks, and temples are available in the mountain, making it a suitable climbing course for families. Also, varied walking courses are set up. The top of the mountain, Manggyeongdae, is not open to public access as a government facility is situated on the peak. Guksabong Peak (alt. 538m) and another peak (alt. 545m) are connected through a mountain path.It is said that a faithful person, Joyun in the late Goryeo period entered Cheonggyesan Mountain from Songdo after the demolition of Goryeo by Yi Seong-gye who was the first King of the Joseon Dynasty. Also, it was referred to as “Cheongryongsan” because the area is regarded as the place where a blue dragon (Cheongryong; 청룡) ascended to heaven. Based on the principles of geomancy, Gwaksan Mountain and Cheonggyesan Mountain are called “Baekho” (White Tiger) and “Cheongryong,” respectively.

Danuri Aquarium
Chungcheongbuk-do(Danyang-gun)

Located in Danyang, Danuri Aquarium houses a lot of fish with a wide array of fish species from Korea and overseas countries, consisting of 13,000 fish of 83 species and 2,000 fish of 62 species, respectively. Visitors can enjoy a wide selection of fish including Siniperca, a traditional fish from Namhangang River, sweetfish and Korean bitterling, as well as various fish species from other countries all in one spot. The restaurant uses fresh ingredients such as blue crab directly delivered from Yeonpyeongdo Island, long-legged octopus from the dawn market, chili from Yeongyang, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and garlic from Uiseong to make their dish tasty. The flavor of the meat stock is deep and light thanks to the natural ingredients such as kelp, anchovies, button mushrooms, and spring onions that are used instead of artificial seasonings. Adding more flavor to the dish are chemical-free bean sprouts and freshly cooked-rice. Ganjang-gejang (soy sauce marinated crab) is available for delivery on orders of three crabs or more.
