Pohang Canal (포항운하)
Gyeongsangbuk-do(Pohang-si)

Pohang Canal, completed in January 2014, cuts between Pohang's Songdo-dong and Jungdo 1-dong, connecting the waters under Dongbindaegyo Bridge with Hyeongsangang River to the south. The canal has a total length of 1.3km, adding on to the 8~10 km long seafaring road of Pohang. The canal is a restoration of an old water path, and the citizens have welcomed the eco-friendly construction as a community park. Many people enjoy walking along the canal or the romantic experience of riding on a cruise ship through the canal.

Palgongsan Provincial Park
Gyeongsangbuk-do(Gunwi-gun)

Palgongsan Mountain (1,192m in elevation), in the outlying reaches of the Taebaek Range, stands sentinel over the spot where the Nakdonggang and Geumhogang Rivers converge. In the past, Palgongsan Mountain was regarded as a sacred mountain because it resembles the shape of the Three Buddhas. This mountain has magnificent granite formations at higher elevations, and the beautiful valleys, seamlessly interwoven with rock formations and thick forests, make for a spectacular view. Palgongsan Mountain borders Gyeongsan, Yeongcheon, Gunwi-gun and Chilgok-gun in the north and surrounds Daegu metropolitan city in the south. With Birobong Peak in the middle, it extends to Dongbong Peak – Gwanbong Peak (Gatbawi Stone Buddha) in the east and Seobong Peak – Gasan Fortress in the west (20km long). It also offers many beautiful trails. At Gunwi-gun (Palgongsan Provincial Park), you can find a Grotto of the Three Buddhas and Ingaksa Temple. This park reflects the glory of Korean Buddhist culture, containing numerous statues of the Medicine Buddha.

Parkjinsa Gotaek
Gyeongsangnam-do(Goseong-gun)

Parkjinsa Gotaek in Cheonggwang-ri,Goseong is an old house of Miryang Park Clan which is #292 Cultural Material. The traditional Korean style house shows the construction method of houses during the late Joseon Dynasty. Three generations of Sungkyunkwan officials were born in this house in a span of 100 years. There is a red gate of award of the king erected at the entrance of the house to cite the devoted son. Usually the red gate of award of the king was erected at the entrance of the village to cite the devoted son, a chaste woman, or a loyal subject, and the Parkjinsa Gotaek is a rare case for which the red gate of award of the king was erected at the entrance of the house. The old wall of the house, which looks like a fossil bed, demonstrates the long history of the house. The well-tended garden near the gate will make you stop walking because it looks like something straight out of a movie scene. The scenery over the window from any place inside the house is as pretty as a picture. The rooms in the house are composed of 2 Anchae (inner buildings) and 4 Sarangchae (outer buildings). Both Anchae and Sarangchae are equipped with restroom and shower room. The kitchen is only in the Anchae building. Sarangchae can be used as one wide room to accommodate a maximum 10 people; it’s done by simply opening the doors dividing the small rooms. The house is used for paid educational programs of traditional tea ceremony and etiquette. The old warehouse has been remolded to be a classroom for tea ceremony classes. The place is also used as a place for events; it’s equipped with a beam projector and sound equipment for hosting seminars, workshops, etc. There is a tea ceremony room made by remodeling a building attached to Sarangchae where you can learn the wisdom of ancestors over a warm tea.

Sido Island
Incheon(Ongjin-gun)

Sido Island is located 5km south of Ganghwado Island, 3km to the east of Jangbongdo Island, and is neighbored by Sindo and Ttiseom islands to the east and west respectively. It is connected to Sindo Island via Yeondogyo, a 579 meter-long bridge that was constructed in 1992. Sido is also known as ‘Salseom Island’ and ‘Hwasalseom,’ which means ‘arrow’ in Korean. It is said that during the late years of the Goryeo Dynasty, the military (then led by famous generals Choi Yeong and Yi Seong-Gye) practiced archery at the foot of Mt. Manisan while using the island as the main target. Since many earthenware and shell instruments were excavated from Sido, it is believed that the island has been inhabited ever since the Neolithic era. The island has unique topographical features. Wide tidelands can be found on all sides and to the north and south, there are rocky coasts and low hills. The central area is comprised of flat fields filled with oak trees bearing acorns and the more mountainous areas are dotted with pines and oak saplings. Residents here work primarily as a fishermen and farmers. The island is famous for its high-quality grapes and octopus and shellfish that are caught from the islands wide tidal flats.

Anyangcheon Stream

Anyangcheon Stream starts to the west of Baekunsan Mountain in Uiwang-si and crosses through Gunpo-si, Anyang-si, Gwangmyeong-si in Gyeonggi-do and Gemcheon-gu, Guro-gu, Yangcheon-gu, Yeongdeungpo-gu in Seoul. After passing those areas, the stream meets the Hangang River near Seongsandaegyo Bridge. Anyangcheon Stream flows in front of Anyang City and the stream was once known as Daecheon as well as Gitan during the Joseon Dynasty period.
