Hampyeong Grand Chrysanthemum Festival

The Hampyeong Grand Chrysanthemum Festival started in the autumn of 2004 as a part of the city’s plan for making Hampyeong an enjoyable city all year round. Visitors can enjoy the fall mood to their hearts content with the many insects and various structures decorating the festival grounds. Over 2,000 works made from real chrysanthemum flowers are on display. The crowning glory this year is the 33.3m long, 8m high Gwanghwamun Gate replica at the central plaza. In addition to the beautiful flowers, visitors can experience a multitude of activities, including playing traditional games, making their own chrysanthemum tea, feeding parrots, and more.

Baegunsan Mountain
Jeollanam-do(Gwangyang-si)

Baegunsan Mountain (1,218m) is believed to hold three diving spirits: phoenix, fox, and boar. Part of the Baekdudaegan mountain range, Baegunsan borders Seomjingang River to the north and Jirisan Mountain to the south, and has four major valleys - Seongbul, Donggok, Eochi, and Geumcheon - with clear waters and lush forests. The forest in the mid-section of the mountain is home to around 900 rare plant species. In fact, Baegunsan houses the largest variety of plant species only after Hallasan Mountain.

After crossing Yeonnyukgyo Bridge on the way to Anymyeondo, you may start to wonder, “Is this really the way to the beach?” Your journey to this beautiful little beach will lead you on a short drive past mountains, rice paddies, and through a small pine grove before you come upon the beach. Once on the beach, you’ll be met by a striking scene of craggy rocks pressed up against the shoreline and a colony of tiny islands dotting the sea. Not just a great place to relax and enjoy time with friends or family, the spot is also a popular site for rock fishing and catching clams and baby crabs.

Baengnyeonam Hermitage
Gyeongsangbuk-do(Cheongsong-gun)

Baengnyeonam is part of Daejeonsa Temple and is located opposite the temple. With crystal clear stream running in front and Janggunbong Peak at the back, you can enjoy a beautiful view of Baengnyeonam Hermitage. Although it unknown when this hermitage was built, it is said that it was named after the daughter of King Ju 'Baengnyeon'. During the Imjin War (Japanese invasions of Korea, 1592-1598), the great Buddhist monk Samyeong stayed here in the building named Songunjeongsa. But the building does not exist today and you can find only the site and the board where the name of the building is written. There remains some buildings called Sanwanggak and Yosa in the hermitage and also you can see the portrait of the great Buddhist monk Samyeong.

Gangneung Dano Cultural Center
Gangwon-do(Gangneung-si)

The Gangneung Dano Cultural Center is located in Noam-dong, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do. The center promotes the Danoje (Dano rite and festival) of Gangneung. On exhibit at the center are customs related to ancestral rites, danogut (shaman ritual), and nori (folk games) to preserve the folk culture of the Joseon Dynasty. The construction of the center began in 2000 when the Gangneung Danoje Festival was added to UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list. Since its opening on February 19, 2004, the center has served a key role in helping visitors better understand the tradition of Dano. The center consists of an exhibition hall and a performance hall across from it. The exhibition hall has an exhibition room, a video room, a gallery, and a corner for hands-on activities. Also located here are the offices of the Gangneung Danoje Preservation Council and the Gangneung Danoje Committee, the main organizers of the Gangneung Danoje Festival. There is also a shaman music exercise room, so visitors can easily learn more about the Dano traditions from key personnel.

Mungyeong Coal Museum

The Mungyeong Coal Museum exhibits the history of coal and explains its important contribution to Korea's rapid industrialization. Systematic exhibition of coal and related information helps visitors understand the vital role that coal has played in shaping modern life. The museum displays coal-related relics in addition to scholarly materials.The museum offers various exhibition halls: the Central Exhibition Hall (1F-2F), Outdoor Exhibition Hall, Mine Exhibition Hall, and Miner’s Private House Exhibition Hall. Though coal, one of Korea’s few natural resources, used to be the driving force of the Korean industry and economy, it has become less visible due to the emergence of oil and natural gas. The museum helps visitors appreciate this forgotten resource as well as the lives of miners in Mungyeong, once one of the most productive coalfields in Korea.

Punggi Station is a station on the Jungang Line, located in Punggi-eup, Yeongju-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do. It is located 199.7 km away from Cheongnyangni Station and serves as the mangagement station of other stations in the Yeongju district of Gyeongbuk Headquarters, including Huibangsa Station and Anjeong Station. The area around the station is famous for insam (ginseng) it is easy to see ginseng sculptures and ginseng paintings to promote their specialty product in and around the station. Nearby tourist attractions include Punggi Ginseng Market, Sobaeksan Mountain and Buseoksa Temple, with many tourists arriving through Punggi Station.
