Jeollabuk-do(Sunchang-gun)

Hoemunsan Recreational Forest (회문산자연휴양림) is situated south of Hoemunsan Mountain (830m). Since the area boasts clean valleys and various tree forests it is a good place for people who want to enjoy their rest and take leisurely strolls. In addition, above the waterfall there is a vast cloud bridge where people can feel the thrilling forces of nature. Long time ago, Hoemunsan Mountain was used as a battleground during the Korean War (1950-1953) and still features several relics that date back to that time.   Within Hoemunsan Recreational Forest, there are promenades, sporting equipment, a headquarters’ base, and an observatory. Lodging facilities include Forest Cabin, a forest lodge, camping decks, and camping grounds. Reservations can be made through the homepage (Korean).


Jeollabuk-do(Gunsan-si)

Ulsan(Buk-gu)

With diverse attractions nearby, many vacationers are attracted to this beach during the winter.


Gangwon-do(Wonju-si)

Wonju Station is located in the city of Wonju, the most inland section of Gangwon-do region. The station is located near downtown Wonju and is a hub of city transportation. Many passengers arriving in Wonju take public transit to visit Chiaksan Mountain, beautiful year-round. Wonju citizens can take the train to visit the capital, head to the northern section of Gyeongsangbuk-do, or enjoy a winter vacation on the snowy slopes of the Taebaek mountains. The station has been in operation since April 1940


Jeollabuk-do(Buan-gun)

Opened in 1969, Wido Beach is known as an excellent swimming beach. It is sheltered by the surrounding mountains and the water is clear and fairly shallow. This makes it very popular among families seeking a relaxing vacation.


Gyeongsangnam-do(Changwon-si)

Changwon Cyclodrome is Korea’s first cyclodrome to open in all weather conditions. There are generally three types of cycle races: Belodrome races; road races; and MTB. Ever since the Sydney Olympics, bicycle racing was designated as a formal event of the Olympics, included in the track event. It is a scientific leisure sport applying the contestant’s physical and mental conditions. There are seven contestants, racing each other for a total of six rounds.


Gyeongsangnam-do(Tongyeong-si)

Hallyeohaesang National Marine Park (한려해상국립공원) covers Gyeongsangnam-do Province’s Sacheon, Geoje, Tongyeong, Hadong and Namhae, and Jeonnam Province’s Yeosu. The 510,323㎢-wide sea park encompasses Dadohae Islets, Bijindo Island and Haegeumgang. The Donam Complex in Tongyeong is being developed as a world-class marine tourist attraction. On Hansando Island there are many historical sites dedicated or related to the great Admiral Sunsin Yi such as battlefields where the Admiral defeated Japanese naval forces. Other sites include those related to the Imjinwaeran War such as Jeseungdang, Chungryeolsa and the turtle lighthouse. The Sanyang Road is a great driving course along which you can look around the entire Mireukdo Island and appreciate the scenery. From Dalma Park you can enjoy the great view of Dadohae Islets. Major attractions include Hansando Island (main island), Bijindo Island and Maemuldo Islands; the latter two are often said to be the focal point of this scenic sea park.


Jeollanam-do(Yeongam-gun)

Hyundai Hotel (Mokpo) opened its doors on August 16, 2006 as the first Deluxe First Class (local equivalent to a five star hotel) hotel. The property boasts spectacular views of the blue waters of the Dadohae, also known as the sea of many islets. Gangwon-do(Cheorwon-gun)

Woljeongni Station (Iron Triangle Battlefield) is the last stop before reaching the DMZ. With the sign "The iron horse wants to run again," there stand remains of a train that was used to make frequent trips to North Korea. Located at the spot where the fiercest battle was held during the Korean War, this train marks the partition line of the Korean peninsula. These days Woljeongni Station is under the control of the Cheorwon-gun Office and hundreds of thousands of people visit this unique tourist area every year.
