Chungcheongnam-do(Hongseong-gun)

Having modified its name from Hongseong Naepo Culture Festival, Hongseong Historical Person Festival is held in Hongjueupseong Fortress every September, with the aim of become an educational festival. Hongseong is the hometown of many historical persons in the areas of literature, martial arts and art such as General Choe Yeong, a great commander during the Goryeo period, Seong Sam-mun, a scholar-official of the early Joseon era, General Kim Jwa-jin, who won the Battle of Cheongsanni against Japan, Han Yong-un, who was a resistance fighter to Japanese influence with his fidelity and integrity, Han Seong-jun, a folk dancer, and Lee Ung-no, who established Korean painting’s creativity and identity. The festival offers historical person-related programs that include themed performances, histories of the persons, and their life story, giving a unique experience. Excellent local food from Hongseong can also be eaten at the festival site.


Gangwon-do(Cheorwon-gun)

Woljeongni Station (Iron Triangle Battlefield) is the last stop before reaching the DMZ. With the sign "The iron horse wants to run again," there stand remains of a train that was used to make frequent trips to North Korea. Located at the spot where the fiercest battle was held during the Korean War, this train marks the partition line of the Korean peninsula. These days Woljeongni Station is under the control of the Cheorwon-gun Office and hundreds of thousands of people visit this unique tourist area every year.


Gangwon-do(Hoengseong-gun)

The 1,200-meter-high Cheongtaesan Mountain is a mountain where planted and naturally growing trees flourish in harmony, creating dense forests that provide a habitat for woodland creatures. In the summer, the forest is a convenient stopover for vacationers headed for the East Coast and both children and adults can enjoy learning about the local ecology at the Forest Education Facility.


Gyeongsangnam-do(Changwon-si)

Changwon Cyclodrome is Korea’s first cyclodrome to open in all weather conditions. There are generally three types of cycle races: Belodrome races; road races; and MTB. Ever since the Sydney Olympics, bicycle racing was designated as a formal event of the Olympics, included in the track event. It is a scientific leisure sport applying the contestant’s physical and mental conditions. There are seven contestants, racing each other for a total of six rounds.


Chungcheongnam-do(Taean-gun)

Located on the Taean Coast, Yeonpo Beach has been a desired vacation spot since 1972. The long stretch of curved sandy beach provides magnificent scenery. It is famous as the beach with the longest period of seasonal operation in the country thanks to its relatively high water temperature resulting from the warm currents. The pine groves and oddly shaped rocks along the coastline make for a fine view.


Chungcheongnam-do(Taean-gun)

Located on a hill on the coast in Taean County, Chungcheongnam-do Province, the Tethys Pension commands an open view of the West Sea. Guests can have great fun in the water and hunt for seashells on Eoeundol Beach, which stretches directly in front of the pension, and enjoy making soap in the pension’s atelier. The surrounding tourist attractions include Mallipo Beach, Mohang Port, Chollipo Arboretum, and Kkotji Beach. The famous local dishes including Blue Crab, Gourd and Octopus Soup, Grilled Jumbo Shrimp, and Grilled Clams are highly recommended.


Chungcheongbuk-do()

Home to many ancient porcelain kiln sites, the Geumsa Gamagol Village is often referred to as "the town of porcelain". According to the Sejong Chronicles, grayish blue-powdered celadon and white porcelain were produced and supplied to the royal palaces. Today, traces of porcelain chips and kiln sites can be found throughout the village. Also, the village offers pottery experience programs, as well as seasonal activities involving farming and sulfur hot springs.


Jeollanam-do(Haenam-gun)

The Ttankkeut Marine History Museum houses approximately 25,000 specimens with 40,000 pieces on display including shellfish, coral, fish, mammals, crustaceans, fossils, reptiles, and insects from around the world, making it the most diverse collection of items in Namdo. Visitors can take part in ecological activities to learn more about phenomenal and rare marine resources and cultures.


Jeollabuk-do(Sunchang-gun)

Hoemunsan Recreational Forest (회문산자연휴양림) is situated south of Hoemunsan Mountain (830m). Since the area boasts clean valleys and various tree forests it is a good place for people who want to enjoy their rest and take leisurely strolls. In addition, above the waterfall there is a vast cloud bridge where people can feel the thrilling forces of nature. Long time ago, Hoemunsan Mountain was used as a battleground during the Korean War (1950-1953) and still features several relics that date back to that time.   Within Hoemunsan Recreational Forest, there are promenades, sporting equipment, a headquarters’ base, and an observatory. Lodging facilities include Forest Cabin, a forest lodge, camping decks, and camping grounds. Reservations can be made through the homepage (Korean).
