Mungyeong Special Tourist Zone
Gyeongsangbuk-do(Mungyeong-si)

Divided into four areas (Mungyeong, Gaeun, Maseong and Nongam), the Mungyeong Special Tourist Zone is a charming place to relax and experience a variety of activities in nature. Here visitors can find attractions such as the Mungyeong Hot Springs, Mungyeongsaejae Provincial Park and the KBS Film Set. The Mungyeong area is home to Mungyeongsaejae, a mountain pass connecting Mungyeong City and Goesan County. During the Joseon period, Mungyeong Saejae played an important role as the gateway in and out of Gyeongsang Province. Saejae, meaning “bird pass,” refers to “a pass so high and steep that even birds find the crossing difficult.” The Mungyeongsaejae-gil road inside Mungyeongsaejae Provincial Park is well developed and suitable for hikers of all ages. Here, visitors can appreciate the lush forest and the fall foliage in autumn. There are three gates along the pass: Juheulgwan, Jogokgwan, and Joryeonggwan. Collectively, they are known as Mungyeong Gwanmun (Mungyeong Gateways). Near each gateway, there are areas where hikers can stop and take a rest. There are also hiking trails leading to nearby mountains such as Juheulsan Mountain and Tanhyangsan Mountain. The nearby Mungyeong Hot Spring is perfect for unwinding after a long hike. The SBS Film Set and the Mungyeong Coal Museum are located in the Gaeun area just south of Mungyeong. Daeyasan Mountain and Yongchu Valley are located nearby and the area has plenty of accommodation facilities for tourists and hikers. Mungyeong rail bike, which departs from Gaeun Station and Gurang-ri Station, is also popular. Popular summer destinations such as Ssanyong Valley and STX Resort are located in the Nongam area. Many companies visit this place for corporate training sessions and team building activities. Topmeori Beach

Ganghwa Anglican Church (대한성공회 강화성당)

Ganghwa Anglican Church was consecrated in 1900 by Charies Jone Corfe, the First Bishop of the Church as the St. Peter and St.Paul’s Church. The church has since undergone several restorations, but the design remains true to the original. The two-story 4x10 rectangular building is characterized by traditional Korean construction style on the outside while the interior is a Western Basilica style symbolizing the beauty of harmony and Korean tradition. It was first designated as Gyeonggi-do Tangible Cultural Property No. 154 and then became Incheon Tangible Cultural property when Ganghwa was included in Incheon Metropolitan City. In January 2001 it was designated as Historic Site No.424 of Korea.

Jirisan Namwon Baraebong Snowflake Festival

Jirisan Namwon Baraebong Snowflake Festival will be held for around 50 days in the area of Herb Valley and Baraebong Peak in Unbong-eup, Namwon-si, Jeollabuk-do. Unbong Herb Valley boasts spectacular snow-covered fields due to its high altitude that keeps the snow from melting. Organized by Unbong Aehyanghoe and Unbong-eup, the festival features a variety of winter activities including ice and snow sledding, snowman making, snowball fights and a kite-flying contest. Visitors can also have some baked sweet potatoes while taking a break from the activities.

Woljeon Museum of Art Icheon

Located in Seolbong Park, the Woljeon Museum of Art Icheon commemorates the great artist Woljeon Chang Woo Soung and his works. Originally opened in Seoul Jongro-gu Palpan-dong, the museum moved to Icheon in August 2007 when Woljeon bequeathed the museum to Icheon City along with 1,532 pieces of artwork and personal memorabilia. The new Woljeon Museum has 2 stories and 1 basement floor with 5 exhibitions halls (permanent & planned exhibition halls), a Woljeon Memorial Hall, a lecture hall, a souvenir shop, and a cafeteria. In the permanent exhibition hall, Chang’s masterpieces and personal belongings are on display, ranging from paintings and calligraphic works to stamps, ceramic works, books, and stationery.
