Gwangju(Buk-gu)

The May 18th National Cemetery, located in front of Mt. Mudeungsan, is the symbol of freedom and democracy and is the grave of victims during the contention for democracy in May 1980. Victims were carried and buried by handcarts and garbage trucks in 1980. In 1997 the cemetery was exhumed and reburied at this memorial. May 18th became a national holiday of commemorating our desire for democracy.To enter The May 18th National Cemetery, pass the Democracy Gate, built in a traditional Korean style. Passing the widely spread Plaza of Democracy, you will reach the Commemoration Passage. Keep walking and you will reach a round figure (4m high) of an enclosing hand. This is the Memorial Tower, which symbolizes the resurrection of new life. Under the tower there is a worship platform with burning incense to show respect. Through the Memorial Tower you will find carvings on both sides. On the right there is an enshrinement where pictures and monetary tablets are placed, and across from it stands the Door of History showing the images in those days. You can understand Korean history by viewing these works.After viewing this part of Korean history, it will be pleasant to take a walk and enjoy the surroundings of The May 18th National Cemetery. 


Gyeonggi-do(Gwacheon-si) , Seoul Grand Park

Manseok Dak-gangjeong (sweet and sour chicken) is located in Jungang Market of Sokcho. Since 1983, Manseok has been one of the top sweet and sour chicken restaurants in Sokcho.


Seoul(Jung-gu) , Namdaemun・Seoul-Station

For three generations, Eunho Sikdang has been steadily maintaining the same taste of the original kkori gomtang, (oxtail soup) that they first made when they operated a street vendor stall in Namdaemun Market 70 years ago. In addition to oxtail soup, you can also have doganitang (ox knee and beef stew), seolleongtang (a thin, milky-white beef soup made from slowly simmered oxtails and bones), and suyuk (steamed pork).  


Seoul(Jongno-gu)

For more than 30 years, Gung (궁) has served Gaeseong-style mandu (dumplings). The elderly proprietor, who fled south during the Korean War runs this restaurant with the help of her granddaughters. Characteristic of its delicate taste, Gaeseong mandu stuffing consists of pork and various vegetables such as Chinese cabbage and pumpkin. This restaurant’s mandu is so popular that by late in the day, they often run out. The typical menu includes mandu-jeongol (chowder) and mandu-guk (soup). The chowder is made of various ingredients including mandu, rice cakes, mushrooms, and meat, and serves two to three persons. For several persons, it's recommended to eat bossam (boiled meat slices wrapped in lettuce leaves or kimchi) and Korean-style pancakes. TIP: On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, they make kimchi in front of the restaurant. Be sure to try a sample of fresh kimchi.


Seoul(Jongno-gu) , Daehangno・Seongbukdong

Daegangno Arts Theater (B5-4F) is a venue for performing arts that is comprised of three halls of varying sizes. The main hall on the 1st and 2nd floors has a proscenium stage and seating arranged in fan-shape. In an effort to present a more contemporary theater experience, the seats in the main hall are closer to the stage than those of a standard theater, allowing audiences to experience performances more vividly.

As the nation began to recover from the aftermath of the Korean War, farmers from the northern Gyeonggi-do region and Ganwon-do gathered around the old Seongdong Station (renamed ‘Hansol Donguibogam’) to sell their produce and wares. The farmers’ impromptu gathering on the fallow farmland to make their transactions soon led to the birth of a new marketplace.Seoul Gyeongdong Market, a.k.a. ‘Gyeongdong Market’, is located around Jegi-dong, Yongdu-dong and Jeonnong-dong at Dongdaemun-gu and consists of the Gyeongdong Oriental Medicine Market, the Gyeongdong New Market, the Gyeongdong Old Market, the Gyeongdong Building, Hansol Donguibogam, and more.Currently, renovations are underway to reinvent the out-dated market environment into an updated shopping experience that still preserves the area’s innate charm. In 2004, Hansol Donguibogam was built and opened on the spot where the Midopa Department Store used to stand. Hanbang Cheonha, Donguibogam Tower-Tel and other areas are now undergoing renovations.


Seoul(Seocho-gu) , Gangnam・Samseongdong(COEX)

Banpo Hangang Park is located on the southern side of the river centering on Banpo Bridge (Jamsu Bridge) between Hamnam Bridge (upstream) and Dongjak Bridge (downstream). The Rainbow Fountain built on both sides of Banpo Bridge is registered 2008 in The Guinness Book of Records as the longest bridge fountain in the world with the total length of 1,140m. The bridge starts from Banpo Hangang Riv. Park created under the project of Hangang Renaissance Project. At night, over 200 lightings creates a fantastic view of a beautiful rainbow.Plus, there are sports facilities including Bubble Playgournd, Inline Skating Track, soccer field, and basketball court. You may also enjoy the gorgeous view of Hangang river and sky scrapers on the riverside from Gureum and Noeul café, lookout places located on the southernmost part of Dongjak Bridge.Seoraeseom which connects from Banpo Hangang River Park is an artificially created island to provide refreshing and leisure place for Seoul urbanites. Every spring, the place is flooded with waves of rape flowers and people to enjoy picnic and spring events like ‘Searaeseom Butterfly, Rate Flowers Festival’.Your joyful experience in the park doesn’t end here - there are more things to see and enjoy including a nature experience field, boat quay, bike lane, and picnic spots.


Jeollanam-do(Gokseong-gun)

[Steam Engine Train]A steam engine train was built to be an exact replica as the one that used to run in the region. The train runs 10km between the old Gokseong Station (Seomjingang River Train Village) and Gajeong Station. Passengers can enjoy the scenic view of lush greenery along the Seomjingang River and flowers alongside the roads at springtime.* The train runs 3 times a day on weekdays and 5 times a day on weekends and holidays.
