Cheongdam Park

The National Library of Korea

The National Library of Korea is where numerous materials are collected and preserved. It currently holds approximately 4.3 million books and theses, of which roughly two-hundred thousand are collected annually. But it would be nice to visit the library and spend some time reading before going on a trip out of Seoul.At the National Library of Korea, classical concerts are held exclusively for the library users on the last Friday of each month, except in January and August. Anyone who comes to the library can attend the concert for free. The Euro-Asian Philharmonic Orchestra and the famous conductor Geum Nan-Sae perform for the audience. Located in Buam-dong in Jongno-gu, Seoul, Jeo Jip is a store specializing in chopsticks, a dining utensil commonly used not only in Korea, China, and Japan but also all over Asia and has long been made from hard materials such as metal, horn, and wood. Culturally, the shape and material of chopsticks are also known to vary depending on the status of the user, and more various materials were added to make interesting chopsticks in the modern times. Chopsticks are often used together with spoons. Chopstick specialty store Jeojip makes and sells chopsticks and spoons made of Korean traditional materials, patterns, and colors. Located atop the Buam-dong hill, the white-walled store displays neat arrays of chopsticks and spoons. Jeojip chopsticks are basically Korean lacquered types, but the designs, materials, lengths, and colors vary. Displayed on the right side of the store entrance is a gorgeous Korean traditional table set with chopsticks and spoons. Chopsticks are sold individually, but sets are more in demand. The store additionally sells spoon rests, cups, and plates, and gift wrapping is available.

The National Assembly Building

With 24 granite pillars, a splendid blue dome, and white exterior, the National Assembly Building is a beautiful piece of architecture. The historic building came to life in 1975 after six years of construction. The pillars and the dome symbolize the various opinions of the public emerging as one. The building is a favorite among tourists as it is located next to the Hangang River. The Hangang River sits behind the building as a beautiful backdrop.The National Assembly Building contains the Visitor Center, a walking area, and benches alongside the Hangang River. The easiest way to visit the National Assembly Building is by applying at the Visitor Center. One can tour various parts of the National Assembly Building as well as the main conferencing area. The application process lasts roughly twenty minutes. The drawback is that it does not offer a foreign language service. Those who are interested in seeing Korean politics in action may also see sessions as they proceed. However, those not particularly interested in Korean politics will be more than satisfied with the regular tour.
