Cheongsa Chorong

Since its opening in 1998, Cheongsa Chorong has been one of the most popular restaurants in Itaewon, particularly among Japanese and Chinese tourists. It serves a wide variety of traditional Korean dishes and stages 30-minutes shows featuring traditional Korean performances including seungmu (Buddhist Dance), taepyeongmu (Great Peace Dance), and janggochum (Drum Dance) at 7:00pm every night.

Jeju Mokgwana
Jeju-do(Jeju-si) , Former Jeju

Located in Jeju City’s Samdo 2-dong, Jeju Mokgwana is the former central government office where the Joseon Period Magistrate of Jeju presided over political and administrative affairs from 1392 to 1910. Designated as Historic Site No. 380, it consists of multiple buildings, including the Dongheon, meaning a main administrative building and Naea, which means a building deep inside the government office. It is also home to Gwandeokjeong, National Treasure No.322. As the oldest remaining building in Jeju, built in 1448 (30th year of King Sejong's reign), Gwandeokjeong was intended to be a training ground for military personnel.Jeju Mokgwana was burned to the ground in 1434 and rebuilt shortly afterward. But it was systemically destroyed during the Japanese Colonial Period (August 1910 to August 15, 1945) with the exception of Gwandeokjeong, which remained intact. The current Jeju Mokgwana was restored in December 2002 following four extensive excavation projects from 1991 to 1998 (in order to find its structures as well as locations of buildings) and based upon expert opinions as well as old documents.

Named to reflect the concept “first and foremost,” High1 is a multi-cultural leisure resort consisting of High1 Resort, Gangwon Land Convention Hotel, Gangwon Land Casino, Gangwon Land Hotel, High1 Ski, High1 C.C, High1 Hotel, Valley Condominium, and Mountain Condominium. Housed in an old hanok (traditional Korean house) Sukyoung Sikdang (숙영식당) is a restaurant famous for its glutinous barley rice meal. Various kinds of grains are mixed with glutinous barley rice to make a sticky and savory rice dish complete with seven different kinds of wild greens. For an extra boost of flavor, try mixing in the various herbs provided with lots of dressing and sesame oil. Even though the meal comes with bean paste-jjigae, if you’re still hungry take a trip to the traditional bakery located nearby (‘Hwangnam Bread’) for an extra special treat.

Tteokssam Sidae (떡쌈시대(본점))

Tteokssam is a delicious dish using sticky and tender dough made from non-glutinous rice mixed with glutinous rice. Ssukttekssam is a dish with soybean flour and wormwood added to dough that gives off a spicy smell and has a sweet flavor. Meat grilled on a hot stone plate and dipped in a specialty sauce can be wrapped up with seasoned leeks, and makes for a fantastic flavor.

Chuncheon National Museum

Opened on October 30, 2002, the Chuncheon National Museum is a storehouse of the cultural heritage of Gangwon-do Province. It preserves and exhibits the archaeological and artistic treasures of the region, which range in date from the prehistoric era to modern times, and serves as a vital center for academic research and education. In 2003, the museum building was selected as the “Best Architecture of the Year.” The building is a beautiful cultural space with an elegant and modern exterior that is in perfect harmony with the surrounding mountain setting. The museum also features an auditorium with 230 seats, an outdoor performance stage, a seminar room with simultaneous interpretation facilities, rooms for hands-on programs, and a library.
