Gangwon-do(Samcheok-si)

Cheokjudonghaebi Monument Erected by Heo Mok, the governor of Samcheok City during the second year of King Hyeonjeong's reign (1661), Cheokjudonghaebi Monument is 170㎝ tall. It was originally built to protect the village on Malli-do Island that had been frequently inundated by heavy rain and rough waves. It is believed that the mystical inscription, penned by Heo Mok, on the monument calmed the rough sea waves. Today, the monument stands to prove the wisdom and distinguished penmanship of the former Samcheok City Governor. Daehanpyeongsutochanbi Monument Daehanpyeongsutochan-bi Monument is 145㎝ tall. It was erected by Heo Mok's successor and former governor of Samcheok City Jung Un-cheol in reverence for his wise forebear. The monument contains 48 ancient Chinese characters that describe many achievements of Heo Mok's.

Mokpo Port Festival will be held in Mokpohang Port and Samhakdo Island areas to offer various performance and hands-on program. This festival was chosen as one of Up-and-Coming Festivals by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for consecutive four years and tries to show features of ocean city and local characteristics for visitors to enjoy its romantic ambience.

Gyeongsangnam-do(Hapcheon-gun)

Located at the border between Gahoe-myeon and Daebyeong-myeon of Hapcheon, Hwangmaesan is a guardian mountain of Hapcheon but has not been popular and was hardly mentioned in hiking magazines or tourist maps. Thanks for that, the mountain has all the natural environment that has been kept untouched and undamaged. In 1983, the mountain was designated as the County Park and now, along with Gayasan, it is regarded as one of the most major mountains in Hapcheon. Hwangmaesan is beautiful during the spring season when royal azaleas are at their full blossom but the summer season when hills are covered with fresh greens or the fall when silver grasses cover the hills gloriously and even the snow flowers in the winter season are scenes not to be missed. Unlike other mountain tops, this one has a full open view so every seasonal changes are more truly experienced. It is convenient that there is a road that reaches to the top of the mountain but if time allows, hiking up to the top to see the magnificent view is recommended for visitors.
