Bibimbap Guesthouse is located in Ikseon-dong, Jongno-gu, which is known for old stores, bars, and rustic hanok buildings with charms different from other hanok villages such as Seochon and Bukchon. It is run by young brothers based on their know-how accumulated from working at other guesthouses for several years. This hanok-style guesthouse was named “Bibimbap” in the hope that it will be a house for everyone that retains various aspects of Korea. In keeping with its name, the guesthouse serves Bibimbap for breakfast. It is popular among foreign guests because the guesthouse is adjacent to Korea’s major cultural heritages including Changdeokgung Palace, Gyeongbokgung Palace, and Jongmyo Shrine as well as other interesting attractions such as Nagwon Arcade. Bibimbap Guesthouse was established by modernizing a hanok building over 100 years old and opened in April 2015. Every room has two windows for ventilation as well as air conditioner and toilets. The laundry room is also designed for communal use. It has a total of seven rooms – 1 single room, 1 triple room, 1 family room, and 4 twin rooms. Every room has a mattress for those who are not familiar with the Korean-style (floor-heated) room and a subtle lighting system under the maroon-colored rafters. It also offers a Korean traditional clothes experience free of charge for guests. Guests are recommended to walk around the area of Ikseon-dong -- nicknamed “a village where time stood still” -- and which provides its unique charms. Its surrounding tourist destinations include Insa-dong, Samcheong-dong, Gyeongbokgung Palace, Deoksugung Palace, and Changdeokgung Palace.

Seodaemun Independence Park (서대문독립공원)

Seodaemun Independence Park was built on the former Seoul Guchiso (Detention Camp). It was used to imprison thousands of Korean independence activists until the liberation from the Japanese occupation on August 15, 1945, as well as the political prisoners during the political turmoil in 1960. When the prison was moved to Uiwang-si, Gyeonggi-do in November 1987, the area was turned into a memorial park to honor sacrifices of the martyrs. The park preserves seven prison buildings, execution ground, underground women’s prison, and the March 1st Movement Monument that has been moved from Tapgol Park in Jongno. One of the main sights the Seodaemun Independence Park is Dongnimmun Gate (Independence Gate), which has been designated Historic Site No. 32. The Dongnipgwan (Independence Hall), originally called Mohwagwan that was used to greet Chinese envoys during the Joseon Dynasty, was reconstructed in 1996. Today, the hall enshrines 2,327 tablets inscribed with names of Koreans who died for the cause of national independence. Standing right next to Dongnimmun Gate are the remnants of Yeongeunmun Gate, which has been designated Historic Site No. 33. Other sights inside the park include the Patriotic Martyr Monument, Declaration of Independence Monument, and Statue of Dr. Seo Jae-pil, who was an independence activist and publisher of Korea’s first independent newspaper. The highlight of Seodaemun Independence Park is the Seodaemun Prison History Hall, a former museum that has been renovated into a museum. * Total Area: 109.193.8㎡

Nadeul Hanok was opened in 2018 with brand-new facilities, in a location just a minute’s walk from Cheomseongdae Observatory in Gyeongju. You can feel a sense of healing in nature in the traditional style house, built in environment-friendly construction method with wood and earth. The ‘ㄷ’-shaped building creates a snug atmosphere and the hipped-and-gable roof and the curves of the roof tile show the traditional quiet and still flavor of a traditional Korean house. There are 7 rooms in Nadeul Hanok. Among them, the Garam, Gayeon, and Nuri Rooms are offered at 50,000 won for 2 persons during off-season so that visitors can enjoy staying in a traditional Korean house at more affordable prices. All rooms are equipped with a bathroom for better convenience and there is an individual thermostat all year round. Complimentary breakfast made of healthy convenience food is offered to all guests. The menu is composed of barley bread, fruit, coffee, juice, boiled egg, and biscuit, and is subject to change according to situation. What is good is that the breakfast can be delivered to the room if the delivery time is requested during breakfast time, which is from 8 to 9 AM. It is possible to look around the tourist attractions near Nadeul Hanok on foot. In addition, there are CVs, fast food shops, bike rental shops, and hanbok rental shops adjacent to Nadeul Hanok, enabling a more convenient and joyful tour.

Gayadong Valley
Gangwon-do(Inje-gun)

Located in the deepest part of the Seoraksan Mountains, Gayadong Valley is a smaller valley compared to others in the region, with quiet streams. The walkway to Gayadong Valley starts from the path behind the Suryeomdong shelter. Walk up for 30 minutes and you will find the water flowing from Ose Waterfall. In front of it are the 40m high cliffs called the Cheonwang Gates, which are regarded as the gates of Gayadong. Past Cheonwang Gates is the Cheonwang Waterfall, and one kilometer up from this waterfall is Waryongyeon. Above Waryongyeon is the Neoreok Rock. If you walk further up there is a crossway. The old path to Oseam is on the left and the path to Bongjeongam, these days called Tapgol, is on the right. If you want to see the whole landscape, stop by at Mangyeongdae on the way to Oseam, and if you keep going up you will soon reach Muneomi Ridge. At Muneomi Ridge the path is divided into two of which one leads to Bongyrong Ridgeline and the other to Cheonbuldong Valley. If you want to climb to Daecheong Peak of Mt. Seoraksan, walk past the Huiungak shelter in the Socheong Peak and Jungcheong Peak direction. The Gayadong Valley has convenient paths, but there are no signs, and no iron ladders prepared yet. So compared to Cheonbuldong Valley where numerous people go hiking, you will prefer the mountain landscape in the serene atmosphere.
