Gyeonggi-do(Paju-si) , Paju(Heyri Art valley)

The Jaun Seowon Confucian Academy is home to the tablets of Yulgok Yi I, a great scholar of the Joseon Dynasty. Yulgok was born in his mother’s childhood home in Gangneung in 1536, the 31st year of King Jungjong’s reign. The site is home to the Memorial Hall (free admission) where artifacts related to Yulgok and his mother Sinsaimdang are on exhibit. The tomb of Yulgok Yi I is located to the west of the Memorial Hall and sits above the tomb of Sinsaimdang with the tombs of other relatives. It is unique that the tomb of Yi I is above that of his mother. The site is home to the memorial hall building as well as the family tombs, tombstones, Sammun and Munseongmun gates, Yulgok Education and Training Center, a lawn plaza, pond, mineral spring, and a room where memorial services are held. In early October every year, the Yulgok Culture Festival, a major festival of Paju, is held beginning with the ritual service offered in memory of Yulgok.


Gyeonggi-do(Yongin-si) , Yongin

Yongin Hobak Dungbul (Pumpkin & Lamp) Village is located in Angol Village, Neungwon3-ri, Mohyeon-myeon, Cheoin-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do. This traditional themed farming village is not only home to a variety of beautiful country cottages, but also offers a host of experience programs that fall under the themes of pumpkin, lamp, and fire (charcoal kiln).Those interested in farming can harvest 40 different kinds of pumpkins and other local produce such as balloon flower roots, potatoes, yams, Chinese cabbages, radishes, and Japanese apricots. More interested in the food after it’s brought in from the field? Try your hand at making diverse pumpkin diverse (pumpkin soup, pumpkin cake, etc.). One of the most popular farm programs is the pumpkin chocolate-making, a fun experience for visitors of all ages.Nearby attractions and heritage sites include the grave of Poeun Jeong Mong Ju, the last loyal subject of the Goryeo Period, the Korean Deung-Jan Museum, Everland, and the Korean Folk Village.

The theme of this festival is ‘soybeans’, a health food that has long been popular in Korea. In particular, the ‘Jangdan Soybeans’ produced in the Paju province have always been highly regarded for their taste and outstanding nutritional value and were even served to the king. Furthermore, in the early 20th Century, the 'Jangdan Soybeans’ were designated as the most superior soybeans in Korea and were distributed throughout the country.During the festival visitors can taste the soybeans and learn how to make dishes made from soybeans including tteok (rice cakes), tofu, and preserved soybeans.


Gyeonggi-do(Gapyeong-gun)

Gyeonggi-do(Goyang-si) , Ilsan

The Latin American Cultural Center - Museum was established by former Ambassador Yi Bok-Hyeong, who served as a diplomat in Latin America for approximately 30 years, and his wife, Hong Gap-Pyo, in an effort to raise awareness and understanding of the Latin American region among Korean people. The center has a museum, an art gallery and a sculpture park: the museum showcases Latin American artifacts made of soil, stone and wood, masks and other folk art crafts of the Maya, Inca and Aztec; the art gallery features contemporary artwork pieces including paintings and sculptures by contemporary artists, and holds art exhibitions on a regular basis; and the sculpture park displays masterpieces of artists mostly from Latin America (Mexico, Venezuela, Brazil, Chile, Peru, El Salvador, Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Portugal), along with indigenas (artifacts from India) and promenades of Coyoacán (the historic borough in Mexico City).


Gyeonggi-do(Yangju-si) , Paju(Heyri Art valley)

The Yangju Snow Festival will take place at Art Valley in Yangju-si, Gyeonggi-do.During the festival, the venue will be filled with snow-white artworks as it also transform into a snow playground for the whole family to enjoy. 


Gyeonggi-do(Gimpo-si)

Jangneung (장릉) is located in Gimpo, Gyeonggi-do province. This is the tomb of the posthumously designated king, King Wonjong (1580-1619), who was the father of King Injo, and of his wife, Queen Inheon (1578-1626).King Wonjong was the 5th son of King Seonjo. He had deep respect for his parents and a strong affection for his siblings. King Wonjong’s third son was exiled to Ganghwado Island under a false accusation and ended up committing suicide. King Wonjong was shocked at the tragic death of his son and died in 1619.The surroundings of the tomb have been well preserved and landscaped, so visitors can enjoy relaxing and walking in this area. Geunjeongsa Temple is located nearby. 


Gyeonggi-do(Goyang-si) , Ilsan

The observatory not only has a 3m circular dome and sliding dome, but also a catadioptric telescope and other major equipment for space observation. Regular education program are help during school summer vacation to explain astromony concepts in relatively simple terms and to engage children with folk stories behind each constellation.Other programs like ‘A Trip to the Space with My Daddy”, and “Weekend Family FAM Tour” are also available. In a "A Trip to Space with My Daddy” (21:00 to 24:00 daily) participants can learn how to operate a telescope and observe celestial bodies in space. The “Weekend Family FAM Tour” program opens from 10:00 to 17:00 on weekends and presents short films on astronomy and gives visitors a look at telescopes and other astrological equipment. The program is popular among elementary and middle school students from Seoul and Ilsan area.


Gyeonggi-do(Goyang-si)
