Gyeonggi-do(Yangpyeong-gun) , Yangpyeong

Using a long abandoned railway, the Yangpyeong Rail Bike offers a unique bike ride at speeds of 15km/h from Yongmun to Wondeok. This 3.2km journey passes along a gleaming river and tree covered mountains. The bike ride delivers picturesque scenery all year round: blooming flowers in the spring with the light green buds blossoming on the trees, the flush greens of summer time, vivid autumnal tones coloring the ridge of Yongmunsan Mountain, and the clean white snowflakes resting delicately on the limbs of trees.


Gyeonggi-do(Yeoncheon-gun)

Joseon Wangga is a museum hotel built on the basis of Yeomgeundang, an old house of Lee Geun who is the grandson of Emperor Gojong. Yeomgeundang was constructed in 1807 and was moved from Jongno-gu, Seoul, to Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi-do to keep the architectural heritage of the traditional royal family of Korea. After 5 months of dismantling work, all the roof tiles, crossbeam, rafters, pillars, foundation stones, stylobate stones, terrace stones, etc. were moved to the current place and Joseon Wangga was completed by reassembling the house for 27 months. As a result, the hidden royal house was turned into an open space for everyone to stay and experience. Staying at the royal house is the same as experiencing the culture of the royal family. There are 15 rooms in total and all the rooms are equipped with bathroom, air conditioner, refrigerator, etc. Smoke therapy and making herbal soaps are offered as experiencing programs. A tea ceremony set is prepared in the room, and paid breakfast of Eosuri Bap (Rice mixed with cow parsnip) can be served if a reservation is made in advance. The house can be rented as a place of traditional wedding or workshop. In the garden of the hotel are a small pond and a trail well tended for a rest in nature. Together with the traditional style hotel, 15 sets of royal cabana, a glamping facility, are operated for luxurious camping.


Gyeonggi-do(Yongin-si)

The Hanteo Pony Farm (한터조랑말농장) is a farm where visitors experience farm aspects of farm life, and can even plant crops, touch and ride the animals, and feel the soil, thereby realizing how precious nature is. Situated in Buk-myeon, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do, Gapyeong Hyunam Agricultual Heritage Museum was established by Gyeonggi-do Gapyeong Office of Education. It is situated inside of Gapyeongbuk Middle School, making it easy to visit for anyone to learn forebearers’ wisdom and spirit as well as the development of traditional culture. It mainly displays framing relics and is comprised of five halls; Yeonchulgwan (연출관) displays 57 pieces of folk materials to observe scenes from daily life back in the time by showing old houses, Minsokgwan (민속관) houses 350 pieces of house-keeping tools, Batgaligwan (밭갈이관) gives a look at how the types of farming machines differed according to region, Chusugwan (추수관) presents 104 different harvest tools and Gagonggwan (가공관) exhibits 255 folk goods to process grains.


Gyeonggi-do(Gunpo-si)

Surisan Mountain (수리산), a provincial park of Gyeonggi Province, surrounds Gunpo City and is easily accessible as it can be reached in about one hour from anywhere in the Seoul metropolitan area. Grand old trees that range from 100 to 300 years old make for picturesque scenery. The mountain is also an important ecological zone, inhabited by many species of flowers and butterflies that are only found in Korea, along with many endangered species of animals and plants. Meanwhile, the value of areas such as Bat Ridge along Taeeul Peak, Seulgi Peak, Surisa Temple, or Wind Hill in Sokdal-dong are all immeasurable for their natural scenery.

Gyeonggi-do(Dongducheon-si)

Soyosan Mountain (소요산) on the outskirts of Dongducheon City is the most treasured mountain north of the Hangang River. Although it is relatively small, only standing 587m tall, it is covered by a lush forest, and dotted by waterfalls and peaks. On the slopes of Soyosan Mountain rest shrines commemorating Wonhyo and Uisang, two renowned Buddhist monks from the Silla Kingdom, and the Jajae Hermitage, a small temple where Wonhyo practiced asceticism. There are many small waterfalls including Wonhyo Falls, Uisang Falls, Cheongnyang Falls, and Seonnyeotang Falls, which are popular destinations for visitors in the summer. Although Nahanjeon, a natural stone cave, and Geumsonggul Cave, halfway up the mountain, still maintain an air of mystery. Moving from the base of the mountain, past the parking lot and shops, and following the flat path, you will find Jajae Hermitage; and, after going a bit further, you will find Wonhyo Falls cascading down between the rocky cliffs. Below the fall is Songni Bridge, which leads straight to the Uisangdae site (587m) at the top of the mountain. The left path off of the bridge leads to a cliff that is the Wonhyodae site; and by following a forest path between rising rock walls, you can trek to the Jajae Hermitage, next to which is a small cave called Nahanjeon. Very tasty spring water wells in the cave and it is called Wonhyo Spring, and its waters are famous for making excellent tea.
