Gangwon-do(Chuncheon-si)

Since opening in 1999, the owner of Jasmine has been the talk of the town because of his good nature. He provided food to neighbors in need and offered scholarship money to students from poor families (Gangwondomin Ilbo July 2002, Gangwon Ilbo December 2004, etc…) with the belief that people should share even in general tough times. The owner is very enthusiastic about serving customers the right way. He even hired a Chinese cook for tourists from China and Taiwan who came to Chuncheon because of Hallyu, or the Korean wave. In addition to authentic Chinese dishes for Chinese customers, the restaurant also serves other types of Chinese dishes that suit the tastes of Koreans. With the management philosophy that fresh ingredients are a must in bringing out the best flavor, the restaurant owner uses seafood from Mokpo and vegetables from Chuncheon in preparing delicious Chinese dishes for customers. The owner even holds a meeting every morning with the staff to provide better dishes and service.


Gangwon-do(Jeongseon-gun)

Jeongseon-gun, Gangwon-do recently became a beloved tourist spot by many people thanks to Gangwon Land the first local casino. This hotel is a 10-story building, from the 4th floor to the 10th floor are operated as hotel rooms while the 1st is for front desk and 2~3rd floors for subsidiary facilities. High Land holds total 70 rooms. The rooms are roughly divided into deluxe room and standard room with various forms of twin, double and Ondol for the purpose of travel. Gangwon-do(Pyeongchang-gun)

Nestled in the high altitudes within the outskirts of Baekdudaegan Mountain Range's Hwangbyeongsan Mountain, Daegwallyeong Snow Town is a small farm village that pioneered Korea's high-land agriculture and is well-recognized for its ranches. It is also the birthplace of Korea's ski facilities and beholds the pride of cultural value of sports and tradition as the village's Pyeongchang Hwangbyeongsan Mountain Hunting Tradition was designated as the 19th Intangible Cultural Heritage. Eighty-percent of village land consists of forests and in year 2008, Daegwallyeong Snow Town opened a Mountain Village Ecology Center under the supervision of Korea Forest Service and Pyeongchang-gun County. Variety of experience programs are available throughout the year according to seasons such as picking dog-tooth violets, gomchwis, and cirsiums in spring, ranger training experience and cooking rice with cirsium in summer, riding on a donkey and creating individual plant guidebooks in fall, and enjoying winter sledding and other winter activities in winter. Other activities including horseback riding, ATV, peformances are also available.


Gangwon-do(Jeongseon-gun)

Gangwon-do(Goseong-gun)

Gangwon-do(Donghae-si)

The Bukpyeong 5-Day Market takes place in Gumi-dong, Donghae-si each months on days ending in a 3 or an 8.The market began in Donghae-si around 1796 (King Jeongjo’s 20th year). Its original site was around Jeoncheon Stream but was moved to the mouth of the stream when the waterway altered. The market eventually settled down at its current site in 1932.


Gangwon-do(Hwacheon-gun)

Paroho Lake (파로호) is a manmade lake created when Hwacheon Dam was built in the valley of the Bukhangang River (북한강). The lake is capable of holding up to one billion tons of water and the Dam of Peace is located further upstream. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Mt Il and Wolmyeongbong Peak as well as the thick forest and pristine valleys in the surrounding area. As Paroho Lake’s unpolluted water is home to many kinds of freshwater fish such as carp, crucian carp, catfish and mandarin fish, the lake is gaining popularity as an excellent fishing spot.


Gangwon-do(Yeongwol-gun)

The Danjong Culture Festival, a major festival of Yeongwol-gun in Gangwon-do, is scheduled to be held for three days from April 25 to 27, 2014 around the Jangneung Tomb area. The festival is a historic cultural event held annually since 1967 in memory of King Danjong (the 6th monarch of the Joseon Dynasty) and his loyal subjects. It was originally called Danjongje and was renamed to Danjong Culture Festival in 1990. In the beginning, it was held for three days starting on the day before Hansik Day, which is April 5 by the Gregorian calendar, except in leap years (the 105th day after Dongji). Since this date changes every year, it was later decided that the festival should be held from the last Friday of April instead.


Gangwon-do(Goseong-gun)

Every June, the areas around Eocheon-ri in Goseong-gun are covered with the purple lavender fields. During this season, many local and international visitors attend the annual Goseong Lavender Festival. This year, the festival will have a variety of programs, from exhibitions to performances.Some of these include a lavender photo exhibit and a photo contest at the farm and the village, as well as a photo gallery and a classical music concert, to name a few. The lucky draw event is something that should not be missed.


Gangwon-do(Chuncheon-si)

The Gangchon Resort (강촌유원지) is a small village nestled along the Bukan River in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do. The river is on one side of the village, while Bongwhasan Mountain and Samaksan Mountain are on the opposite side, creating a beautiful scenery from all directions.Gangchon Station is conveniently located near the entrance to the recreational area. Many young couples enjoy taking the romantic train rides to this cozy little village. Therefore, this spot has became a popular place for college students to go to on weekend trips.The village area has campgrounds, a youth hostel and other lodging facilities, bicycle paths, bungee jump facilities and many other recreational areas.In addition, the area is especially famous for mountain biking. There are many places to rent bicycles; for those are not accustomed to mountain biking, motorized bicycles are also available. The most popular bicycle course is the well-made route to Gugok Waterfall. Bicycles can be left in the parking lot located near the entrance to the waterfalls. From the entrance, it is just a short hike up to the waterfall. As there will be many people using this popular bike route, follow the crowds and do not worry about getting lost. The 67 meter high waterfall is a natural wonder. People flock to this spot in the summer to escape the heat and in the winter to see the ice sheets gracefully frozen in time.
