Gangwon-do(Inje-gun)

Bangtaesan Mountain, located in Inje-gun, Ganwon-do, sits on the border between Inje-gun and Hongcheon-gun. Its long ridges and deep valleys make the mountain outstanding in its beauty. Being in a place where it’s not easy to get to, the mountain’s natural elements are in pristine condition. Water flows from Jugeokbong Peak (1,443m) and Guryongdoekbong Peak (1,338m) through Achimgarigol Valley and Jeoggarigol Valley. There is a wide variety of species that live in the mountain, such as lenoks, catfishes, boars, hares, roe deers and squirrels. Southwest of Jugeokbong Peak, the highest peak of the mountain, is the Gaein mineral water spring that is famous for its pungent taste and carbonated water. With cool weather in summer and colorful autumn foliage in fall, Bangtaesan Mountain is a perfect place to enjoy the natural beauty of South Korea. Gangwon-do(Inje-gun)

Soyangho Lake (소양호), one of the biggest manmade lakes in Korea, along with Chungjuho Lake (충주호), was created in 1973 when the world’s fourth largest dam, Soyang Dam, standing 123 meters high, was constructed. The 60-kilometer watercourse connecting Chuncheon and Inje is a route along which you can enjoy the beautiful hills and streams of Naeseorak. In the Inje section, upstream of the lake, there are various species of fish such as carp, crusian, leather carp, mandarin fish and pond smelt, attracting many tourists and fisherman. Fishing spots are found in areas such as Gunchukgyo Bridge, Bupyeong, Gwandae-ri, and Sangsunaeri Fishing Pier. Also, from December and March when a portion of the lake near Gunchukgyo Bridge freezes, you can bore holes through the ice sheet and enjoy ice-fishing for pond smelt.  


Gangwon-do(Samcheok-si)

Cheoneunsa Temple is located on Dutasan Mountain in Miro-myeon, Samcheok-si, Gangwon-do. At the tail end of the Goryeo Dynasty, Lee Seung-hyu, a renowned scholar, wrote ‘Jewangungi’, an epic for the Korean people at Cheoneunsa temple. After the temple burnt down during the Korean War, the temple was renovated. The temple houses Beophwagyeong (Lotus Sutra Statue) among other cultural significant artifacts. Also, the surrounding area is where the capital of Goryeo Dynasty was located, a number of relics such as pieces of Celadon and blue roof tiles are unearthed.


Gangwon-do(Gangneung-si)

Located at the Gyodong Housing Site, Gangneung City, Gangwon-do Province, Hotel Russo is a new concept of holiday accommodation that combines a boutique with a business hotel. It caters to all kinds of guests from tourists to businesspeople as well as persons with physical disabilities as it is equipped with a variety of rooms and facilities for the disabled. This eight-story building has 42 guestrooms, including Suite Rooms with a large terrace and VIP Rooms with a duplex structure, which are particularly popular. Each room features various convenient facilities, including a PC and a bidet, and is equipped with a beam projector rather than a TV, while the VIP and SUITE rooms are equipped with a home theater. In the lobby, the self-service bar serves a hearty breakfast including freshly-baked toast, tea, coffee, and drinks. The hotel is situated near to various tourist destinations including the main venue of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games, Gyeongpodae Pavilion, Ojukheon House, and the Express Bus Terminal, and the nearest bus stop is just 5 minutes’ walk away. The hotel also has a large parking lot.


Gangwon-do(Hongcheon-gun)

Village 736 is a pension hotel located in Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon-do with six private guest buildings. With Geumhaksan Mountain in the back and the Hongcheongang River in the front, Village 736 boasts a great view with a glimpse of Soeppulbong Peak of Maebongsan Mountain over the Hongcheongang River. There is also an outdoor swimming pool at the center of the premises, which creates an open atmosphere. The private guest buildings are located around the outdoor swimming pool, and the accommodation has wooden decks that create an overall well-organized vibe. Apart from the family guest building, all guest buildings are three-story buildings with a unique design. Upon opening the front door, guests can see a kitchen where they can cook. The buildings have private outdoor decks where guests can relax in the sun by opening the folding door. The living room is on the second floor. Guests can also enjoy hot baths during their stay inside a Hinoki cypress bathtub by the window. Lastly, the bedroom space is on the third floor. It has a great view overlooking the Hongcheongang River. At night, guests can also enjoy stars glistening in the night sky. The family guest building is a one-story building that can accommodate up to 6 guests. It also has a massage chair for relaxation. Each guest building has a private barbecue area. Guests can also order a barbecue set from the hotelier. Village 736 offers complementary brunch, including sandwiches, fruits, salad and coffee, in the cafe building.


Gangwon-do(Chuncheon-si)

Chuncheonho Lake was formed as a result of the construction of Chuncheon Dam in February 1965. The area around the dam has been developed into a recreational park with a camping ground, fishing spot, picnic areas, lookout sheds, bungalows, restaurants and other convenience facilities. The Chuncheon Circular Road lies along Uiamho Lake, and connects Chuncheon Dam with Uiam Dam. It has a fishing site, and a street lined with restaurants serving maeuntang (spicy fish stew). Its nearby attractions include Chuncheon Dam Valley, Satgatbong Mountain, and Jibdarigol Recreation Forest.


Gangwon-do(Pyeongchang-gun)

Gangwon-do has it all—mountains, rivers, valleys, and the sea—and is a haven for travelers and those who enjoy leisure sports and activities. ‘Jangamsan Mountain Paragliding Field,’ located in Gangwon-do Pyeongchang, is known as the best paragliding spot in Korea, thanks to the area’s pristine natural environment. The direction of the wind and the altitude of the field enable people to enjoy paragliding all year round. Paragliders of all skill levels can find an appropriate flying program that will allow them to soar up in the sky and enjoy the beautiful scenery of downtown Pyeongchang and the Pyeongchang River. Only a 3-4 hour training session is enough for a simple flight. For more cautious flyers, there is even tandem paragliding (10-minute dual flight with a trainer). At the landing site along Pyeongchang River, people can also enjoy camping and swimming.


Gangwon-do(Goseong-gun)

Stay Gajin is a pension located on Gajinhaebyeon-gil in Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do, facing the East Sea. Nestled between Gajin Port and Gonghyeonjin 2(i)-ri Beach, all of the nine guest rooms at Stay Gajin are ocean view rooms. A noticeable feature that captures the attention as soon as one walks into the guest room is the full wall window that reveals an open view of the East Sea. Since there are no entertainment facilities or other accommodation facilities around Stay Gajin, you can fall asleep peacefully while listening to the soothing sound of waves. In the morning, you can enjoy the luxury of waking up to the glorious sunrise in the East Sea. There is one guest room on the first floor, and it can accommodate up to four guests. On the second floor, there are four guest rooms, all of which are for two guests only. The fours guest rooms on the third floor which are the most popular guest rooms in Stay Gajin, are two-story rooms. The kitchen and living room are on the first floor, and the second floor is decorated as the bedroom area. The room is basically for two people, but it is big enough for up to four guests. Every guest room has its own kitchen where guests can cook, and a bathtub where they can enjoy lower-body bathing with a view of the sea. There is also a rooftop area reserved for guests and a cafe on the premises for food and beverages. Guests have great access to the nearby beach across the street from Stay Gajin. It is not a popular beach, so it does not attract many visitors; guests can enjoy a quiet outing like a private beach.
