Chungcheongbuk-do(Jincheon-gun)

This gray heron habitat is located behind the Nogok Village in Jincheon, Chungcheongbuk-do. The Migratory birds roost on a 1,000-year-old ginkgo tree from March to October. In November, they fly back to their southern homes, such as Taiwan. Gray herons have migrated to this area for hundreds of years and the villagers from Nogok began tending to them roughly 100 years ago.


Chungcheongbuk-do(Danyang-gun)

Geumsusan Mountain (altitude: 1,1015m) is located in Jeokseong-myeon, Danyang-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do. The mountain is also known as Minyeobong (beauty peak) because the mountain range, when seen from afar, is said to resemble a beautiful woman lying on her side. The mountain was originally called Baegamsan, but the noted Joseon-period scholar Yi Hwang (pen name, Toegye) renamed the mountain Geumsusan (silk embroidery mountain) when he was the chief governor of Danyang County, saying its graceful features matched the fineness of silk embroidery. Geumsusan Mountain is considered as one of the “Eight Scenic Views of Danyang” with visitors flocking all year round to enjoy the scenic mountain landscapes carpeted with royal azalea blossoms in spring, greenery in summer, foliage in autumn, and snow in winter. In the vicinity is a seaside filming location of Korean historical dramas. The Geumsusan Mountain Gamgol Maple Festival is held in this area every October.


Chungcheongbuk-do(Okcheon-gun)

Hagye-ri in Okcheon-eup, Okcheon-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do, is the hometown of Jeong Jiyong, the poet who wrote the poem "Hyangsu" (Nostalgia). The Jeong Jiyong Literature Gallery is located next to Jeong Jiyong's birthplace. The gallery has a Literature Exhibition Hall, which is divided  of four parts: Jeong Jiyong's Chronological History, Jiyeong's Life and Literature, Jiyong Literature Map, and Exhibition of his Original Copy of Prose and Poem. At the Literature Experience Center, visitors can learn more about literature through various multimedia platforms. The Video Room shows a documentary about Jiyong's life and literature while the Literature Class is the venue for lectures, poem discussions, seminars, and other literature club activities.

Chungcheongbuk-do(Danyang-gun)

Danchon Seowon Gotaek is an old Hanok sitting in harmony with beautiful mountains, fields, and valleys of Danyang. Once entering the high gate, there are Daffodil Room and Red Clay Room on the right, and Woodland Peony Room and Apricot Flower Room on the left. In the rather big main building are Peony Room, Cotton Room, and White Dandelion Room. A picturesque pavilion stands impressively next to the main building. The living room of the Peony Room is equipped with antique furniture and pictures, whereas there are rafters, big beams, and wooden floor in the living room of White Dandelion Room. Daffodil Room and Apricot Flower Room also boast of traditional rafters and beams. Since Daffodil Room and Red Clay Room are small, they share kitchen and bathroom, and the rates are more affordable. The cafe in the corner of the yard, with thousands of vinyls and players collected by the owner, is a good place to listen to music, or have a cup of coffee or tea. It is also refreshing to have a walk along the path beside the spring running in front of a big old tree. At night on clear weather, you can enjoy a starry sky. It takes about 20 minutes car by from the accommodation to Danyang Gugyeong Market, and 8 minutes to Suyang Gaebit Tunnel.


Chungcheongbuk-do(Goesan-gun)

Goesanho Lake is located in Cheongcheon-myeon and Chilseong-myeon areas in Goesan-gun County. The lake boasts superb natural landscape created in harmony with mountains and forests. The 2㎞-wide, 4㎞-long Sanmagiyet-gil (literally meaning the old trail of mountain cottage in Korean) created along the lake and Goesan Dam offers fine views of the mirror-like Goesanho Lake and the beautiful lakeside scenery.The three-meter-high observatory with tempered glass on the floor presents visitors the feeling of standing on the lake surface before precipitous cliffs. There are over 30 attractive sites around the area such as a mineral spring, raspberry trail, azalea hill, and a pond. The lake is a great vacation spot as there are numerous tourist attractions in the vicinity including Songnisan National Park, Ssanggok Valley, Seonyudong Valley, and Hwayang Valley. The lake is abundant in freshwater fish, which also makes it a famous year-round fishing site.


Chungcheongbuk-do(Jeungpyeong-gun)

Jwagusan Natural Recreation Forest is located at the foot of Jwagusan Mountain (alt. 657m). The name of mountain “Jwagusan” comes from the Chinese characters “jwa” meaning sitting down and “gu” referring to a turtle, because the shape of the mountain resembles a turtle sitting down. The lush forest along the hiking trail offers a refreshing stroll through the woods and the nearby Samgi Reservoir adds to the picturesque beauty of the mountain on misty days. The recreation forest offers easy access to many recreational facilities in the area including a resort village, Samgi Reservoir, a woodland park, and a mountain bike course. Because of its natural beauty and recreational facilities, it is becoming more popular as a tourist spot.
