Chungcheongbuk-do(Yeongdong-gun)

Yeongdong, the hometown of Joseon Dynasty’s traditional music virtuoso, Park Yeon, is regarded as the Mecca of Korean traditional music. Every year, the Korean traditional music festival named after Park’s pen name, Nangye, is held in the area. In addition to featuring various exhibitions and experience programs centered on Korean traditional music, the Yeongdong Nangye Traditional Music Festival offers cultural arts and foods in conjunction with the Yeongdong Wine Festival. Visitors can enjoy various program including royal ancestral rites, parade, contest for reciting a sijo, and other hands-on program through traditional music.


Chungcheongbuk-do(Jecheon-si)

Located on a ridge of Sinseonbong Peak (845m) nearby Geumsusan mountain, Jeongbangsa Temple was founded by Buddhist monk, Uisangdaesa in the second year of King Munmu’s reign during the Silla Kingdom (662). Jeongbangsa Temple is a branch of the Beopjusa Temple located at Mt. Songnisan and is a well known oratory amongst Buddhists. The temple offers fantastic views of Chunpungho Lake that are said to calm and clear the mind. A unique feature is the mountain wall making up a portion of the temple roof. 


Chungcheongbuk-do(Yeongdong-gun)

Yeongdong in southern Chungcheongbuk-do Province is the largest producer of grapes in Korea. Yeongdong Grape is known for its sweet, fresh flavor and for having a great, sunlight-rich climate and stark temperature contrasts between day and night. Every year, in celebration of its top crop, Yeongdong hosts a festival where visitors pick grapes in a vineyard or fish them out of a pool, followed by using them to make different types of food, such as wine, chocolate, dry persimmon, and more, and simply enjoy the beautiful scenery of Yeongdong Town all the while. It is a perfect opportunity to experience grapes with all five senses and take some home at affordable prices.


Chungcheongbuk-do(Boeun-gun)

Songnisan National Park, home to the 1,000-year-old Beopjusa Temple, is one of South Korea's cultural gems. Chungcheongbuk-do(Danyang-gun)

Legend has it that a dragon ascended to the sky from Darian Valley. Darian Valley is named as such because of the scenic sight of falls under a bridge. Originating in Biro Peak, Sobaeksan Mountain, water flows into Darian Valley, Cheongdong, Geumgok, and Gosu Donggul Cave.Pure, cold water whirls around odd-shaped rocks in the valley, surrounded by lush trees. This makes the valley one of the most popular spots during the summer. The Darian Tourist Area, centered in the valley, attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors thanks to abounding scenic views. Chungcheongbuk-do(Jecheon-si)

Located in Chengpung-myeon, Jecheon-si, Chungcheongbuk-do, Cheongpungnaru is the starting and ending point for pleasure boat commuting on the Cheongpung Lakeside. The ferry offers great views of the lake and its surroundings. In particular, the most popular course is the route between Cheongpung and Janghoenaru (장회나루) including Oksunbong Peak, Gudambong Peak and Geumsusan Mountain. Boarding takes place in front of Cheongpung Cultural Heritage Complex.

Chungcheongbuk-do(Cheongju-si)

The Cheongnamdae (청남대) is a presidential vacation villa located near Daecheong Dam (대청댐) in Cheongwon-gu, Chungcheongbuk-do. The former president Chun Doo-hwan was greatly impressed by the scenic surroundings while attending the ceremony for the completion of Daecheong Dam in 1980. The construction of Cheongnamdae started in June, 1983 and was completed in six months (December). Cheongnamdae, built on a 560,000 pyeong-wide area, means ‘Cheongwadae in a warm southern land’ in Korean. South Korean presidents would stay in this remote vacation villa 4-5 times (or sometimes 7-8 times) a year during summer vacation or national holidays. In total, Korean presidents have stayed here nearly 400 days over 88 visits in two decades.There were four presidential villas including the one in Gimhae in the past. During Kim Young-sam’s administration, however, all but Cheongnamdae were closed. Cheongnamdae, which had been closed to the public for twenty years, was finally opened to the public on April 18, 2003 by former president Roh Moo-hyun. Visitors can view a music fountain inside the ecological wetland garden (990㎡), hike a 3.3km mountain trail and visit the Hoban Promenade (8km), or simply take a pleasant walk along a beautiful trail, and enjoy the scenic landscape of Daecheongho Lake.* Geographical Location Cheongnamdae is located in Munui-myeon, Cheongwon-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do. Chungcheongbuk-do(Boeun-gun)

Songnisan Mountain Maltijae, Songnisan Mountain gateway is a steep, zigzagging uphill path located 8km from Chungbuk Boeun in the direction of Songnisan. During the Joseon Dynasty (1392~1910) while Sejo King was climbing Songnisan Mountain he mounted a horse (mal) because of the mountain’s steep gradient, thus giving the mountain its name. Located here, Songnisan Maltijae Recreational Forest (속리산 말티재 자연휴양림) is harmoniously mingled with Jangjae reservoir creating a beautiful scene. It is a good place to experience nature.For its main facilities there are promenades, mountain paths, Water Parks, public kitchens, and for its lodging facilities there are Forest Cabins divided into 16 villages.
