Wolmyeong Park
Jeollabuk-do(Gunsan-si)

Wolmyeong Park is a popular tourist destination of Gunsan City and connects five mountains in the vicinity. The total size of the park is 2.6 km² and there is a 12km-long walking trail in the park. From the Susi Tower, which resembles a flame and or wind-blown sail, people can see all of Gunsan City, the sea to the south of Gunsan, the mouth of Geumgang River, and the giant Janghang smelting factory. At the foot of Seollimsan Mountain is an old temple named Eunjeoksa, and the Jeil Reservoir is located between Jeombangsan and Seollimsan Mountain. The park also contains an observatory, a sculpture park, and various monuments. The park has well-arranged gardens and 30-year old rattan and cherry trees. Every April, when the park is covered in cherry blossoms and is especially beautiful, a cherry blossom photo contest is held at the park.

Uniram Baniram Valley
Jeollabuk-do(Jinan-gun)

Uniram Baniram Valley (5km long) falls between Myeongdeokbong Peak and Myeongdobong Peak in the northeastern region of Mount Unjangsan. The name Uniram refers to the steep walls of the valley where nothing but the sky, rocks, thick forests, and clouds can be seen. The valley is also befittingly named Baniram since it is so deep that it only receives direct sunlight for half the day. There are many strangely-shaped rocks like Jjokduri Rock, Cheollyeop Rock, and Daebul Rock scattered throughout the lush valley. At the peak of summer, the area is crowded with vacationers and is also popular for its autumn leaves.

Dongnagwon House

The Dongnagwon House in Jeonju Hanok Village provides a getaway to experience hanok stay and traditional Korean life. Affiliated with Jeonju Kijeon College, Dongnagwon is also a memorial hall dedicated to W. M. Junkin, who came to Korea as a missionary from the South Presbyterian Church of the United States in 1892. Dongnagwon is a reproduction of the old hanok houses in Jeonju from the time when W. M. Junkin was doing his missionary work in the area. It is comprised of three buildings: Anchae (main hall), Sarangchae (guest house), and Haengnangchae (servants’ quarters). Visitors to Dongnagwon can learn and experience traditional Korean culture such as music, crafts, and dance while inhabiting traditional lodging. In addition to providing accommodation for individual guests, Dongnagwon is also used for group accommodations or activities such as seminars, conferences, and family events. For groups of 30 or more, it is possible to rent out the entire venue (in addition to all facilities, including Seungdokdang, Seunghwadang, Cheongyuje, and the front yard).

Haneulgwa Sonamu

Located near the entrance of Mt. Naejansan, Haneulgwa Sonamu is the best, Western-style family restaurant in Jeongeup. Serving some fine Western dishes, it is the best choice for tourists during the fall. Dining with the grand view of autumn tinted Mt. The garden, in the addition to its natural view, is beautifully arranged with historic pine trees and some 30 or more rabbits. Iksan Ipjeomni Ancient Tombs
Jeollabuk-do(Iksan-si)

The Iksan Ipjeomni Ancient Tombs are a group of ancient Baekje-era tumuli located 100m above sea level on the northeast brow of Chilmokjae Hill in Ipjeom-ri, Iksan-si, Jeollabuk-do. The burial ground covers an area of more than 18,520 square meters and is officially listed as Historical Site No. 347. To date, a total of eight tumuli have been excavated, all of which are chamber tombs. Surprisingly enough, the tombs were first discovered in 1986 by a high school student. While digging for arrowroot, a young man from a local high school found some pieces of gold that resembled a hat. He quickly notified the authorities and it was soon discovered that the pieces of gold were in fact valuable ancient artifacts. An emergency excavation was conducted and the eight tumuli were uncovered, but unfortunately all of the tumuli except Tomb No. 1 had been severely damaged. Tomb No. 1, which is still in relatively good condition, boasts an entrance measuring an impressive 16m in x_height and 2m in x_width. Inside the tombs archaeologists found valuable relics from the Baekje Dynasty including earthenware, jewelry (a gilt-bronze hat, gold earrings, glass beads, etc.), harnesses and ironware. Given the shapes and the types of the pieces found, historians estimate that the tumuli were built in the 5th century. Since the gilt-bronze hat is similar in shape to those found in Japan, experts believe that there was an active exchange between the Baekje people and the people of Japan.

Munsusa Temple

문수사는 전북 고창과 전남 장성과의 사이에 놓여 있는 문수산(621m)중턱에 자리 잡고 있다. 고수면소재지에서 고수도요지를 지나 위로 올라가면 조산 저수지가 나오고, 왼쪽 골짜기를 타고 6km 정도 비포장길을 오르면 울울창창 숲이 우거진 산등 서향으로 문수사가 있다. 물이 맑고 숲이 좋은데도 인적이 드물어 오염이 전혀 되지 않은 곳이다. 신라의 명승 자장율사가 당나라로 건너가 청량산에서 기도를 거듭한 끝에 문수보살의 가르침을 받고 귀국한 후, 우연히 이곳을 지나다가 산세가 당나라 청량산과 흡사하여 문수산에 있는 굴속에서 며칠간 기도하자 역시 문수보살이 나타나므로 이곳에 절을 지었다고 전하나, 지어진 시기는 확실치 않다. 지방유형문화재 제51호인 대웅전과 52호인 문수전이 있으며 기타 명부전, 한산전 등이 남아 있다. 대웅전은 소규모의 건물로 맞배지붕이 특이하다. 우거진 녹음 사이로 계곡 물과 가을 단풍이 천년 고찰과 잘 어우러져 보는 이의 발길을 잡는다. 수령 100~400여 년 된 단풍나무 수십 주가 군락을 이루고 있다. 고창 은사리 단풍나무숲은 문수산 입구에서부터 중턱에 자리한 문수사 입구까지의 진입도로 약 80m 좌우측 일대에 수령 100년에서 400년으로 추정되는 단풍나무 500여 그루가 자생하고 있는 숲이므로 2005년 천연기념물 제463호로 지정되었다. * 관람최적시기 : 가을(단풍)

Gudam Village

Located at the beginning of Seomjingang River, the steep banks in Gudam Village are covered in maehwa (plum blossoms) in white and red. While strolling along the 3m-path of the riverside, connecting Gudam Village to Cheondam Village, tourists will be impressed by the beautiful scene created by maehwa (plum blossoms) and cherry blossoms. The village became more and more famous thanks to its cozy ambience comprised of Seomjingang River, plum blossoms and Zelkova in the mouth of the village, attracting visitors to enjoy a walking trip. The village has also served as a filming location for movies, including the movie Spring in My Hometown, released in 1998.

Dongnakwon
Jeollabuk-do(Jeonju-si)

Hanok Hotel Dongrakwon used to be a memorial hall for Missionary M. Junkin who worked in Jeonju in 1985, and had long been used as an official residence for the Bank of Korea. The 100-year-old Hanok retains the history and culture that modern hotels do not have. Since the renovation to make it a hanok hotel, it is now utilized as a space for traditional music performances, traditional weddings, or small weddings. The entire building can be rented for various gatherings, seminars, conferences, family events, and so on. The beauty of a hanok is found in every corner of Dongrakwon such as the wide lawn, the pond in front of Sarangchae, and the jar stand next to Anchae. The antique furniture and folding screen in the rooms have been used for generations, enabling guests of the hanok to time travel to 50-100 years ago. The yard is a great place to play simple Korean traditional plays such as Jegichagi and Dakjichiji, whereas the free-of-charge red clay sauna will relieve fatigue. The outdoor hot / cold bath and sun bath site is a new addition to Dongrakwon. There is a 600-year-old Ginkgo tree standing on the Eunhang-ro, where the accommodation is located. Opposite the alley is Donghak Revolution Memorial Exhibition Hall; Gyeonggijeon East Gate is 200m away. The hotel is close to Taejo-ro, the busiest street of Jeonju Hanok Village; neighboring Eunhang-ro, Choi Myeong Hee-gil, and Eojin-gil all retain the unique quietness and beauty of Hanok Village. It will be also nice to ride on the mountain bike that Dongrakwon offers free of charge in order for guests to visit corners of the Hanok Village, or ride along the Jeonjucheon Stream.
