The Jeju Tourism Organization Duty Free Shop was the first inner-city, duty-free shop in Korea. The spacious store offers diverse, luxurious items and is open to any tourist visiting Jeju. The shop is located in Jungmun Resort Complex, which has beautiful natural scenery and is near many tourist attractions such as the Olle Hiking Trail. The complex is also a great place to enjoy various performances and events and to participate in conferences and meetings.

Sunrising House is an accommodation where all the rooms have views of the ocean, sunrise, and Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak (Sunrise Peak). Udo Island, Seongsang Ilchulbong Peak, and Ojori Beach are closely located to the Sunrising House. Ojori Beach is a great outdoor classroom to teach children about nature, and clam and baby crab catching on the mudflat is great fun. Catching tools are available to borrow at the Sunrising House. Guests may get information on the scenic drive between Seongsan and Sehwa from the owner of the house. Along the way are many things to enjoy such as the Jeju female divers’ museum, beautiful beaches, and habitat for migratory birds. Guestrooms come in two types, hotel type rooms and apartment type rooms with a small kitchen. Some rooms are with beds, while the others are ondol (floor heating and mats) rooms. All rooms have large windows, allowing guests to enjoy the scenic views of sunset and sunrise and the refreshing ocean breeze.

Jejuhyanggyo Confucian School is an educational center that teaches Confucianism to local people, and holds ancestral ceremonies for the great Confucian scholars. It is also used as an administration office, and a gathering place for the local Confucians. It has two main halls: Myeongnyundang and Daeseongjeon, which houses ancestral tablets.

Marado Island (마라도)

This island is the southernmost part of Korea. Fishing is good when the tide rises on the east and when the tide goes out on the west. There are a variety of fish species and it’s a great spot for damselfish and yellowtail, even though most bites and nibbles will probably be from Icefish porgy. Float fishing is popular at night on Marado Island. Fish bite well in the rough seas following a typhoon alert. The shoreline of Marado Island forms rugged cliffs with fantastic rocks. A lot of sea caves are scattered under the cliff areas and the whole island itself is basalt. The seashores in this area are the perfect habitat for a variety of aquatic life including shellfish, seaweed and mollusks. There are more marine products found here than in any other area around Jeju Island. Abalone, conch, sea cucumber, sea urchin, sea mustard and Hizikia as well as Marado coralfish (caught in spring and summer) have long been famous. The eastern seashore has been eroded by strong wave action from the Pacific forming a vertical cliff that the residents on Marado call “Geujeong.” The cliff is 39m high and gives an aura of mystery to the island thanks to the cactus and silver grass that grow on it. There are 4 docks: Salraedeok, Jarideok, Jangsideok and Sinjakro. ‘Jarideok’ was named after the coralfish caught in the adjacent area all year round here. The 20 to 30m-high cliffs standing like a folding screen act as a natural windbreak when the wind blows from the southeast.
