Basilla, a 2017 Performance Presented in Collaboration between Jeongdong Theater & Gyeongju World Culture Expo  The Show Has Become Even More Powerful Than Ever!  - SILLA: Basilla, an upgrade repertoire of the Gyeongju Brand Performance Presented by Jeongdong Theater A hidden story from the Silla Kingdom with a thousand years of history  The breathtaking performance you can find only in Gyeongju -      SILLA: Basilla has become an even more powerful and spectacular show, presented by Jeongdong Theater in 2016 as a part of its performance series in Gyeongju The breathtaking performance you can find only in Gyeongju   Jeongdong Theater Foundation (CEO: Son Sangwon) showcased an upgraded version of Basilla, a major repertoire of the Gyeongju Brand Performance SILLA on March 27 at Cultural Center Theater, Gyeongju World Culture Expo. Premiering in 2015, Basill are interprets a Persian epic poem called Kush-Nama in an attempt to incorporate historical content and performance art, and uses storytelling as an important tool that can appeal to the audience. Audiences have highly praised the show for depicting the incredible cultural encounter between the Persian Empire and Silla Kingdom through a new kind of stage performance and stage directing. In 2016, Basilla has returned as an even more intense and spectacular show, with several new features that add more depth to choreography, more sophistication to video design, and a stronger sense of narrative to music. As a part of the "Project for Revitalizing Local Culture" that began in 2011, Jeongdong Theater launched the Gyeongju Performance Brand called SILLA and showcased high-quality creative traditional performances in the local area so as to take a big step towards establishing a theater that produces only traditional performance art. Jeongdong Theater has successfully introduced to the field of cultural tourism a futuristic performance art which can still reflect the history and culture of Gyeongju. Basilla attracted a total of 2.000.000 audience members by the end of 2015 and greatly enhanced its reputation as a Gyeongju Brand Performance.     This year's upgraded version of Basilla ains to differentiate itself from any other local open-run show as a "must-see performance with a high level of performance" by creating more sophisticated and artistic scenes on stage. The audiences will be able to enjoy a more intense, spectacular, and harmonious show filled with artistic choreography with a strong sense of narrative, beautiful costumes and props that reenact the grand culture of the Silla Kingdom and the Persian Empire, video and lighting designs that blur the distinction between reality and fantasy, and great music that successfully delivers the story. Basilla, a repertoire of the Gyeongju Brand Performance presented by Jeongdong Theater, tells a hidden story from the Silla Kingdom 1,500 years ago, and it will soon become the most recognized Open-Run Show in Gyeongju once again.

Agricultural Museum (농업박물관)

The Agricultural Museum first opened in 1987 and, after going through renovations, was reopened in July, 2005. The museum has three exhibition halls: the Agricultural History Hall, the Agricultural Community Hall, and the Agriculture Promotion Hall. In the museum, there are 2,000 artifacts on display and replicas of paddy fields, traditional homes, and marketplaces of agricultural societies. Through its variety of learning tools, the museums hopes visitors can gain a better understanding of what life was like for farmers in the past.

Chuam Beach
Gangwon-do(Donghae-si)

Chuam Beach is a beach filled with a diverse variety of rock formations and coastal cliffs, where 150 meters of white sands leave you breathless. This beach is also called Haegeumgang Beach, due to its beautiful surrounding scenery. There is a lot to see on this rocky island, with its wild coastal cliffs boasting such formations as ‘Knife Rock’, ‘Candlestick Rock’, and of course caverns. The ‘Candlestick Rock’ is somewhat known to be symbolic of Chuam Beach, as it points sharply towards the heavens. Just behind ‘Candlestick Rock’ lies the summerhouse, Haeamjeong.The shoreline cliffs unfold into a panorama at the back of Haeamjeong, and at its front is the gorgeous view of the open ocean which can be taken in with just one glance. The quiet and shallow waters characterize Chuam Beach, making it perfect for the whole family to enjoy.

Hwaeomsa Temple
Jeollanam-do(Gurye-gun)

Situated on the southwest corner of Jirisan Mountain, Hwaeomsa Temple is one of the 10 most famous temples in Korea. It was constructed in the fifth year of King Jinheung’s reign (544) during the Silla Era, but was burnt down during Japanese Invasion, Jeongyujaeran in 1592. Including the main building Daeungjeon, the temple was rebuilt during the Joseon Period.The path to the temple lies along the valley named Hwaeomsa Temple Valley. It also takes you to Nogodan Plateau of Jirisan Mountain. With Korean traditional straw-roofed houses and a water mill, you can find a cozy place named Siuidongsan, which means the Hill of Poetry, to take a rest at your right on the way to the temple.Beyond this area is the main gate of Hwaeomsa Temple, Iljumun Gate, and a long stonewall. Entering the main gate, you can find Geumgangmun Gate and the stairs going up to Bojeru. At the top of the stairs, there are the main building Daeungjeon and Gakhwangjeon Pavilion.There are also Seo-ocheung Pagoda (west-five-story pagoda) and Dongocheung Pagoda (east-five-story pagoda) at each side of the front yard. In front of Gakhwangjeon Pavilion is the largest light made of stone in Korea. In addition, there are many national treasures here including the Sasaja Samcheung (3-story) Stone Pagoda, which is situated at the hill called Hyodae. The main building Daeungjeon and Bojeru is magnificent and graceful. Nokcheongja Museum

Since opening on October 25, 2002, the Nokcheongja Museum has been running ceramic classes for visitors and offering academic data about the Green Celadon Kiln Site in Incheon (Historic Site No. 211). The excavation work for the Green Celadon Kiln Site in Incheon was conducted on four separate occasions from December 1965 to May 1966 by joint research teams of the National Museum of Korea and Incheon Metropolitan City Museum. The celadon fired in this kiln has a dark green or brownish green glaze with an uneven surface. The Green Celadon Kiln Site was the first cultural property in this area to be designated as a Historic Site (designated on May 1970).
