Arirang Literature Museum
Jeollabuk-do(Gimje-si)

Located in Gimje-si, Jeollabuk-do, Arirang Literature Museum (Jo Jung-rae Arirang Literature Museum) was opened in May, 2003. The museum displays materials related to Jo Jung-rae’s novel, ‘Arirang,’ which shows the history of Gimje. His handwritten manuscripts for Arirang are displayed on the first floor, and the author's notes, a pocket notebook, and daily items are on display in Exhibition Hall No. 2. In addition, No. 3 Exhibition Hall shows Jo Jung-rae's humanity. The memorial stone of Arirang Literature is located in Byeokgolje.

Samtan Art Mine

At the foot of Hambaeksan Mountain where was the main producing place of anthracite, Samtan Art Mine transformed an abandoned mine which is unique and special point of the place, into a cultural art complex. The name of ‘Samtan’ refers to Samcheok Tanjwa, one of major coal mines in Korea, and ‘Art Min’ refers to ‘Coal mine’ in English and has meaning that of a mining coal turning into cultural art space. Throughout the nation, many cultural art places are located but Samtan Art Mine attracts visitors for being an actual mine site, which was closed in October 2001 after its first opening in 1964 when it was developed as a industrial establishment. Likewise, it is meaningful that the mine site became an artistic site despite its historically poignant history.

Geumodo Island
Jeollanam-do(Yeosu-si)

Geumodo Island, included in the area of Dadohaehaesang National Park, has a shape resembling a big terrapin. Many fables, folk songs and folk games have been told of this island. It features dense forests along with wild ginseng and used to be an area for hunting deer, available only to the Royal House during the Joseon period. Also, the island is a spawning areas for Black Porgy (Gamseongdom).
