Gyeryong Military Culture Festival held in Gyeryong-si, Chungcheongnam-do where tri-service military is located, features one of the nation’s most representative festivals, attracting about 900,000 visitors each year. Donggang River

Gangwon-do(Yeongwol-gun)

The Donggang River flows through the Gangwon-do district, and is a tributary to the South Hangang River. The Donggang River spans an area of 60km from Jeongseon to Yeongwol. The Donggang River is a well-preserved river, left untouched due to the strong current of the waters and the rugged geography of the mountains. The Donggang River follows a snaky path splitting the chiseled cliffs surrounding it. Many tourists visit the area to see rare animals such as otters, Mandarin ducks, and Chinese scops owls and so on. Donggang River is also famous for white-water rafting.

Kim Yujeong Station

Gangwon-do(Chuncheon-si)

Kim Yujeong Station is named after one of the prominent Korean writers of Kim Yujeong from the area. It was firs time using the person's name for the station and located between Gangchon and Namchuncheon Stations in Gyeongchun Line. The station commenced its operations in July 25, 1939, which was back then called Sinnam Station. The name of the station was changed into the current name in December 2004. As of December 21, 2010, the station was officially transferred to the new station after the new line of Gyeongchun Line of Seoul Metropolitan Subway started to operate. Near the station, Kim, Yujeong Literature Village and Sindong-myeon community office and post office are located.

Gwanbangjerim Forest

Jeollanam-do(Damyang-gun)

Located in Damyang, Jellanam-do, Gwanbangjerim (Natural Monument No. 366) is a forest that was made along the banks of Damyangcheon Stream. The two-kilometer-long forest stretches from Dongjeong Village in Namsan-ri to Hwanggeum-ri, Subuk-myeon and Gangui-ri, Daejeon-myeon. Gwanbangjerim is a special manmade forest that was planted to prevent flooding along Damyangcheon Stream. It is comprised of large trees such as muku trees, zelkova trees, nettle trees, and cherry trees that are about 200 to 300 years old. The forest’s beauty is so well known that it was even selected as “Korea’s Most Beautiful Forest” by the Korean Forest Services. Visitors enjoy this gorgeous natural getaway all year round, with many stopping by the forest Sculpture Park for pictures. Nearby attractions include the Jungnogwon Bamboo Garden and the Metasequoia-lined road.

Chujeon Station

Situated in Taebaek in Gangwon-do, Chujeon Station is Korea’s highest train station at 855m above sea level. Visitors must pass through Jeongamgul, the second longest railway tunnel in Korea to arrive at Chujeon Station. This quiet, isolated station has attracted many visitors since it started operating the Fantastic Snow Flower Train tour in December 1998.Lying between Gohan Station and Taebaek Station, Chujeon Station offers the best of romantic winter scenery. Jukdosan

Gyeongsangbuk-do(Yeongdeok-gun)

Jukdosan, specializing in snow crab, is located in the middle of Daege (snow crab) Street in Gangguhang Port, Yeongdeok-gun. On the first floor, a large fish tank has plenty of snow crabs and fresh raw fish, and water flows like waterfalls over the glass windows of the second floor, giving visitors a cool and refreshing feeling. Braised snow crab and fresh fish are the main dishes. After enjoying the clean taste of crab, guests can experience another joy of eating fried rice with crab’s internal organs along with snow crab maeun-tang (spicy fish stew) served for free. Accommodation facilities are also prepared on the third floor.
