Bukchon Music Festival

Bukchon Music Festival aims to showcase various contemporary music genres including world music, jazz, classic, and indie music, centered on Korean traditional music in the area of Bukchon in Seoul. The festival is a music festival carrying out varied artistic attempts to break the barrier between traditional and contemporary art. About 20 artistic teams from different genres will play their love songs along the streets of Bukchon, so passersby can enjoy listening to the music for free if they like the song. Pumba was the word repeated in the songs of street singers, especially when Korea was once impoverished. They strolled around marketplaces or villages seeking food, money, or anything they could get. Pumba doesn’t have a specific meaning but is a language mechanism for keeping a rhythm. These days, the word pumba generally refers to gakseori. These performers do not beg for food or money, but do sing at events or festivals. The Pumba Festival is held in Eumseong every year. Programs offer a visit to the old days of poverty and a glimpse of the performances and lifestyles of various gakseoris. The festival participants are top performing gakseoris who entertain at marketplaces, festivals, or theaters around the nation. No wonder the festival is filled with energetic and exciting performances as well as endless laughter from the audience.

Aerospace Museum
Gyeongsangnam-do(Sacheon-si)

Sacheon’s Aerospace Museum (항공우주박물관) opened in August 2002. Outdoor exhibits include 13 kinds of aircraft used by the Korean Air Force since the Korean War, five retired aircrafts donated by the American Forces, and two armored vehicles and three cannons used by the land forces. The indoor collection includes over 1,000 items such as wartime photos, battle gear, artifacts from fallen soldiers, and other wartime memorabilia. The museum’s collection also includes the soviet-made ZIS-110 limousine that former North Korean leader Ilseong Kim used during the Korean War, 18 aircrafts such as T-6 (Geonguk), and F-86 fighter jets, and T-34 armored vehicles primarily used by the North Korean army during the war. In this museum, built as a symbol of Sacheon’s rise to the nation’s aerospace hub, visitors can learn more about the aerospace industry and aircrafts.

Gurye 5-Day Market & Gurye Traditional Market

Gurye is the first famous national park in Jirisan Mountain and is home to clean water and spacious fields near Seomjingang River. The main products of this area include a variety of wild herbs, vegetables, sansuyu (cornus fruit) and plums from Jirisan Mountain and Baegunsan Mountain. Houses with cornus fruit trees are easily found in the district of Sandong-myeon, Gurye-gun and the whole village gets dyed yellow in the spring and red in the fall. The amount of sansuyu from the area accounts for nearly half Korea’s total. Also, chestnuts are common in Gurye Market as a complex of chestnut tree takes up 1,400 ㏊ of the land.

Boseong Green Tea Plantation Light Festival

The installation of a massive Christmas tree will set a start to the Boseong Green Tea Plantation Light Festival, which is located in Boseong-gun at the Boseong Green Tea Plantation, one of Korea’s excellent tourist sites. The evening light ceremony will kick off the festival, where an embroidered spectacle of lights is expected to entrance visitors. Various sites and activities like the giant Christmas tree, a themed street, a galaxy tunnel, illuminations of Botjae and Dahyanggak, a lighted street, a photo zone, resolution stairs, and hanging wish cards will be available. With a jaw-dropping size of 120 meters high and 130 meters wide, the massive Christmas tree at Boseong Tea Plantation made it into the Guinness Book of Records in 2000, and contributes to making Boseong, Korea’s home of tea and sounds, a well-known Korean attraction. During the festival, the landscape will be graced with a romantic and magical ambience of falling snow created by the arrangement of LED lights.
