Jincheon Bell Museum

The Jincheon Bell Museum (진천종박물관) was opened in September 2005 with the objective of promoting the unique artistic value of Korean bells. The museum’s Jincheon location itself is also very meaningful, as it is the oldest steel production site in Korea. In the nearby area, Uncheon-dong, Beomjong (a temple bell) of late Tongilsilla Kingdom (the United Silla Kingdom) was discovered along with the remains of the Ongdusaji Cheoldanggan of the Goryeo Dynasty. Since a bell museum focuses especially on the culture of temple bells, which are a culmination of metal craftwork, it seems inevitable that the museum is located in Jincheon where the biggest steel mill was located in ancient times.

Sambong Beach

Sambong Beach is located to the south of the bridge that connects Nammyeong and Anmyeon-eup. The beach stretches 3 km long and has a x_width of 120m. The beach gently slopes down at a 2° angle and has an average water depth of 1.5m and temperature of 22°C. The beach is easily accessible to many visitors because of the convenient transportation during the summer. The three Sambong Rocks, the Haedanghwa flower (plena) and the rich pine forests are just a few of the beautiful and magnificent features of this beach. The name Sambong, is derived from the three rocks, however four rocks can be seen from the north facing southward while only three are visible from the south. The sand dune created by natural phenomena is a must see here.

Eulji Observatory

From the Eulji Observation Platform, North Korea soldiers on guard are visible and on clear days so is Birobong Peak of Geumgangsan Mountain. Every year over one hundred thousand people visit this observation platform at the DMZ.

Dodong Lighthouse

Located in the north of Dodonghang Port, Dodong Lighthouse is also called Haengnam Lighthouse. From here, you can get a great view of Jeodonghang Port and its surrounding sea. The coastline walk path, starting from the left of Dodonghang Port, leads to the lighthouse. Another way is through the Haengnam mountain path behind Ulleung-gun Office. The 1.4-kilometer walk path from Dodonghang Port to Dodong Lighthouse is fascinating and the round trip takes roughly an hour and a half. On clear days, you can see Dokdo to the east from atop the lighthouse. To the north, you can see the beautiful landscape of Jeodonghang, Chotdae Candlestick rock, and Seonginbong Peak (the symbol of Ulleungdo). The lighthouse has long served as a beacon for Ulleung sailors. In 2006, it was newly renovated to include a small park and exhibition gallery. Nearby, there is Dodong Yaksu Spring. The sparkling water is said to help digestion and treat skin problems.

Gyemyeongsan Recreational Forest

Gyemyeongsan Recreational Forest (계명산자연휴양림) of Chungju is located east of Chungju Lake and is surrounded by beautiful scenery. In addition, Gyemyeongsan Recreational Forest’s nearby roads are good for driving and the area is very popular among tourists and even Koreans. Within this recreational forest, there are pine trees, and various animals and plants. In addition to a host of therapeutic benefits, a walk through these woods is memorably tranquil. Wando Seaweeds Expo

Seaweed is a living organism that is symbolic of the clean water zone in the depths of the sea, and is also one of the origins of marine organisms. Wando Seaweeds Expo includes a range of displays of marine algae, discussions over environmental concerns such as climate change and global warming, and prospects for “green growth” through seaweed. The expo shows the importance of seaweed as a food resource, and aims to bolster the domestic seaweed industry. The expo also aims to make Korea a leading nation in the seaweed industry through an active response to the growing demand for Korean seaweed. A range of activities have been arranged for visitors to the festival, held in the Wando Port district, which include an exhibition, hands-on programs, an international forum, conference, and other events. It is the first expo to be centered on the theme of a variety of seaweed including dried and sea mustard. The seaweed expo will be a venue for the exchange of seaweed-related information and technology for participants representing 60 corporations in 20 countries around the world.

Bugak Skyway
Seoul(Jongno-gu)

The 19km-long Bugak Skyway runs along the northeast ridge of Bugaksan Mountain. Opened in September 1968, the road quickly became known as one of Korea’s most scenic driving routes. The road offers lovely views of Bukhansan Mountain’s Bibong Peak and Munsubong Peak on one side and Namsan Mountain on the other side. Trees line the roadside and different flowers bloom per season. The skyway leads to an octagonal pavilion at the top called Palgakjeong, where visitors can get a panoramic view of the city, take photos, and have a meal or coffee while enjoying the scenery.
