Hongseong Namdanghang Port Jumbo Shrimp Festival

Namdanghang Port, located at the west end of Hongseong, is a famous west coast port known for its exceptional seafood. Surrounded by the clean waters of Cheonsuman Bay, Namdahang Port is home to a wide array of sea life including blue crab, cockle and webfoot octopus. Namdanghang Port also draws throngs of visitors from early September to mid-October every year for the country’s largest Jumbo Shrimp Festival, which has been held since 1907.A major jumbo shrimp party unfolds along the west coast of Korea from October to November, and as the shrimp are in season, this is the ideal period to enjoy the savory food. The Jumbo Shrimp Festival offers not only food but also various activities for visitors to take part in such as catching clam in the mud flats or even personally catching jumbo shrimp. It also holds a diverse range of events such as traditional rites (rituals for a big catch of fish), fishing boat parades, singing contests as well as hands-on experience programs for catching and peeling jumbo shrimp. Regional products are also sold, making it possible to purchase quality jumbo shrimp at low prices. With much to offer, the festival draws over 700,000 visitors each year.

Hundreds of pine trees create a scenic forest almost 1km long along the levee which provides a suitable camping site under the forest. Ttangkkeut-gil walking path connects the front of an auto camping site at Songho Beach to Galsan Village and Ttangkkeut Top. The Windbreak pine tree forest in Songho-ri, Haenam is designated as Jeollanam-do’s Monument No. 142, including around 600 pine trees aged 200 years and playing a role in the coastal shelterbelt.

Yeongnamnu Pavilion

Located on Mt. Adongsan next to Namcheongang River in Miryang, Yeongnamnu (National Treasure No. 147) is one of three great pavilions of Korea together with Chokseoknu Pavilion of Jinju and Bubyeoknu Pavillion of Pyeongyang.A two-story-pavilion with a hip-and-gable roof was constructed on this same site during the Silla period, as part of Yeongnamsa Temple, which was one of the five great temples at that time. The pavilion was torn down and re-constructed during the rule of King Gongmin of the Goryeo Dynasty. The current structure was built in 1884 according to the design of the then-magistrate Yi In-jae.The pavilion area consists of Neungpagak, Chimryugak, Sajumum Gate, Iljumun Gate and Cheonjingung. Stone-carved calligraphy from the Joseon Period abounds in the pavilion complex, drawing many visitors.

Gimhae Gaya Country Club

The Gimhae Gaya Country Club is a mammoth golf club featuring 6 courses with a combined total of 54 holes (45 holes for club members-only, 9 holes for use by the general public).
