The Sunrise Busan Festival, has been held each year to welcome in the new millennium, has established itself as the premier coastal cultural festival, taking place on land, sea and sky, and including an air show and a ship flotilla at sea. Among those eager to greet the first sunrise of the new year after bidding farewell to the final sunset, the Sunrise Busan Festival is a popular winter festival, particularly among foreign tourists. At Yongdusan Park, there will be an array of artistic and festive events for the new year – as well as an opportunity to watch the first sunrise of the year, from this panoramic vantage point in downtown Busan. Events both large and small will be staged at many other popular tourist sites around Busan, including at Dadaego Beach, Haeundae Beach, Gwangalli Beach and Dalmaji Park, for those intent on seeing the year’s first sunrise.

Gimhae Buncheong Ceramics Festival

'Buncheongsagi (a grayish-blue-powdered celadon)' is a type of ceramic ware used during the 15th and 16th centuries, during the transition period from Cheongja (green celadon porcelain) to Baekja (white porcelain). This Korean-style ceramic ware has received high acclaim for the simplicity of its beauty. This festival takes place in October every year in Gimhae, Korea’s most famous ceramic village. This festival sells this special ceramic ware, such as tea cups, made in the traditional methods with discounts of up to 30 to 40%. Visitors can also watch the ceramicists making ‘Buncheongsagi’. Furthermore, there are other programs that allow you to make your own ceramics or even write and draw your own artistic imprints on ceramics.

Suaedang House
Gyeongsangbuk-do(Andong-si)

This hanok was built by Ryu Jin-geol, also known by his pen name Suae, in 1939. It is located beside the head household of the Sugok Clan who were part of the Jeonju Ryu family. When you enter the lofty, 5-kan*-high gate, you will find 3 buildings that measure 29 kans in total. Suaedang House has a gabled-roof, and is composed of a 7-by-2-kan residential area, and a 10-kan shed, which are situated together in a ㄱ-shape. The hanok was used as an ancestral memorial hall, and later designated as the 56th Cultural Relic of Gyeongsangbuk-do. It has been well preserved, as it was built with sturdy pine usually found in the Chunyang region. The patterns on the lattice doors have peculiar shapes, and the house as a whole faithfully embodies the architectural technique of the late Joseon Dynasty. Mageompo Beach in Nam-myeon, Taean-gun is located right before the bridge that leads to Anmyeondo Island. Sinji Myeongsasimni Beach

There are many beaches having the name Myeongsasimi in Korea. While “Myeongsa” refers to “soft sandy beach,” it has a different meaning in Sinji Myeongsasimni Beach; here, it conveys “echoing beach,” because the sound of silvery sand swept by waves is known for spreading over 4km (“Simni” means “4km” in Korean). Befitting its name, the beach (150m in x_width) stretches over 4km. One of the most exquisite beaches along the South Coast, the beach is also shallow, ideal for family tourists. Bathing in the sand here is believed to be effective for neuralgia, arthritis, skin diseases, and athlete’s foot.
