Gangwon-do(Pyeongchang-gun)

Baeksasil Valley in Seoul is a historic site (Baekseokdongcheon, Famous Site No. 36) that rests amid untouched natural surroundings. The valley is a habitat to a diverse amount of animals, including salamanders, frogs, minnows, and crayfish. There are also wild boar sitings from time to time so be careful. The preservation value of this area is especially high as the valley is home to a large colony of salamanders, which are indicator species of the clean water and a protected wildlife species of Seoul. Baeksasil Valley is a tucked away treasure in the bustling city. The path along the area’s thick forest and natural valleys provides an excellent getaway. Since the area is a habitat to several protected species, visitors are asked to refrain from dipping their feet in the valley’s waters while exploring the scenery. Seoul(Jongno-gu) , Insadong・Jongnon

Located at the entry of Samcheong Park, Doban is a Korean restaurant that features dishes using seasonal ingredients. Doban means "partner" in Buddhism. The restaurant is in a remodeled house and has a large signboard outside, making it easy to find. The main draw of Doban lies in the fact that the restaurant uses only fresh, seasonal ingredients often not available to city residents. The most popular thing on the menu is the course meal called “banjeongsik,” which comes with five main dishes and nine side dishes. The array of simple, light food (such as salad, japchae, bossam, and jeon) is a delightful mix of flavors whose seasonal ingredients (such as ferns and lettuce) make each bite a palate-pleasing sensation. Banjeongsik is part of the lunch menu and is only available until 3 p.m. Other course items are ilpum, epum, and sampum. Doban is a great spot for family gatherings and business meetings.      


Jeollabuk-do(Sunchang-gun)

Hoemunsan Recreational Forest (회문산자연휴양림) is situated south of Hoemunsan Mountain (830m). Since the area boasts clean valleys and various tree forests it is a good place for people who want to enjoy their rest and take leisurely strolls. In addition, above the waterfall there is a vast cloud bridge where people can feel the thrilling forces of nature. Long time ago, Hoemunsan Mountain was used as a battleground during the Korean War (1950-1953) and still features several relics that date back to that time.   Within Hoemunsan Recreational Forest, there are promenades, sporting equipment, a headquarters’ base, and an observatory. Jeollanam-do(Jindo-gun)

Founded in 857 by the Buddhist monk Doseonguksa and reconstructed by Ui Woong in 1648, it is located between two valleys, bordering Cheomchalsan Mountain to the North. Walk through the rows of trees leading to a beautiful garden enclosed by a 100 year-old Joseon Chinese Juniper, cherry trees and persimmon trees. Follow the path behind the temple for 10 minutes to find a three-acre plot of land consisting of dense forest. This woodland is a national monument containing over 50 types of trees. Unrimsanbang lies on the South of the temple, a home of the famous artist Heo Yu, of the Joseon Dynasty.
